I looked up the NIV translation, and I have to say verses 16 through 19 struck me:
"No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine."

I was surprised how long it took me to come up with a character, but Colonel Mathieu from "The Battle of Algiers".

"When he is aroused his eyes open wide and deepen in color and his nostrils spread."
A portrait of Mexican dictator Porfirio Díaz, taken in 1908 when he was seventy-seven years old. The caption reads: "This remarkable photograph, made expressly for Pearson's magazine, shows the power, courage and energy in President Diaz's countenance. When he is aroused his eyes open wide and deepen in color and his nostrils spread. Yet, in spite of the terrific force which he suggests at such a moment, his simple dignity is always apparent"

This might be my only chance to work in a reference to the Cyberpapacy from the RPG "Torg".
An image of a man wearing a white bishop's robes with a white miter, with a red stole. He's holding a staff with a crucifix on the top with wires running down it and his hands have been replaced with cybernetic ones.

If it's ever built, I think it should be torn down and replaced with a Red Army memorial.
The somewhat over-the-top Red Army memorial in Vienna. A sculpture of a Red Army soldier holding a flag and shield stands atop a tall plinth. The shield and helmet of the soldier are polished bronze.

This is increasingly my philosophy of social media, and I think it's served me well:
A picture of a man in a suit interviewing an old man with a huge white beard dressed as a swami:

Interviewer: "What is the secret to eternal happiness?"
Swami: "Not to argue with fools."
Interviewer: "I disagree."
Swami: "Yes, you are right."

The local Mexican ice cream place has a flavor called "Gansito" or "little goose", but it's named after a Mexican Twinkie-style cake:

This, from the conclusion, is savage but IMO accurate:
"Whatever the case, Chomsky’s lasting legacy will be the impressive feat of having combined the worst aspects of just about every leftist and progressive tendency: anarchists’ lack of economic theory and class analysis, Marxist-Leninists’ defense of state atrocities and insistence on viewing politics as a global chessboard, and liberals’ elitist disdain for the masses’ ability to be trusted with interpreting information. Well, at least we'll have your somewhat over-the-top campaign posters to look back on fondly.

Given the resources and detail that go into the GTA games, only for them to be a series of bad jokes wrapped around Police Murder Simulator gameplay, I've always had this kind of feeling about them:
The famous Spiderman comic panel where Spiderman says "You can rewrite DNA on the fly, and you're using it to turn people into dinosaurs? But with tech like that, you could cure cancer!" to a pterodactyl riding a triceratops, who responds "But I don't *want* to cure cancer. I want to turn people into dinosaurs."

Also the old National Lampoon caption to a picture of this ad:
A picture of an advertisement painted on the side of a building. A smiling man in a chef's outfit points at a plate with a single fried egg on it. The ad copy reads "Dining out? Insist upon PLATES. They may every meal a special meal!" At the bottom the ad says it was provided by "The National Clay Board 'American needs clay and vice versa'".

The Bernie Bros acting like they were dictating terms after winning one primary made think of this panel from one of my old Justice League comics:
The Grey Man is facing Dr. Fate, whose helmet is visible from behind, smirking and gesturing towards a crowd of figures behind him. Dialog bubbles say:

"I believe, Dr. Fate, that *surrender* is in order. You may, if you wish, drop to your knees and *grovel*."

This detail about David Brouillette, the ICE goon who shot and killed Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Maine, stood out to me.
High school yearbook photos show he was a member of the school’s Naval Junior ROTC, and he wrote that he planned to go to college and become a police officer.

Brouillette was initially rejected by military recruiters because of his mental health diagnoses, but recruiters encouraged him to go off his medications for a year and reapply, which he did, his immediate relative said.

He was eventually able to enlist.

In light of Lionel Messi getting a hat trick last night, I wanted to post this picture of him with Lamine Yamal taken back in 2007. There's a chance these two could play against each other in this year's World Cup.
A young Lionel Messi with unfortunate long hair poses with a chubby baby in a little plastic tub, looking like he's giving the baby a bath. The baby is Lamine Yamal, now a forward for Barcelona and playing on the Spanish national team.

It's part of footnote 1160:
--On returning from the camp at Bologna, Napoleon encounters a squad of soldiers who
had got lost, asks what regiment they belong to, calculates the day they
left, the road they took, what distance they should have marched.
and then tells them, "You will find your battalion at such a halting
place."--At this time, "the army numbered 200,000 men."]

-We received digital confirmation of data destruction (shred logs).
-We have been informed that no Instructure customers will be extorted as a result of this incident, publicly or otherwise.
-This agreement covers all impacted Instructure customers, and there is no need for individual customers to attempt to engage with the unauthorized actor.

In light of current events, I felt more than a little eerie reading this today. From "The Wehrmacht's Last Stand", by Robert Citino.
. . . Kluge to enter into independent negotiations with the Allies, urging him to establish radio contact with US General Omar Bradley, commander of the US 12th Army Group. In other words, he wanted Kluge to seize the day, march in the footsteps of old Yorck, and try something quite similar to what the latter had done at Tauroggen.
Kluge was having none of it. "Gersdorff," he said, "if this goes sideways, then Field Marshal von Kluge will be the biggest idiot in world history."
"*Herr* Field Marshal," responded Gersdorff, "like all great men of world history, you're standing before a choice: either to be condemned by history or to enter into history as a savior in a moment of dire need."
Kluge put a hand on his underling's shoulder. "Gersdorff," he said, "Field Marshal von Kluge is not a great man."
In the end, far too few of them were.
