So the pope has died. I left the catholic church many years ago, but I did admire this pope for his humility and advocacy for peace. I hope his influence will outlive him, and that people of faith will reconsider their role in our society with an eye towards justice.

Funny thing, as Y2K approached, I was asked if the FAA computers were at risk. I chuckled because back then, the software didn't know what day of the week it was, nor of course the date. The host computer was still using vacuum tubes.

I had measles and mumps as a child, before vaccines were available. But in my 30s, I finished my college degree in New York state. To attend school, I had to prove immunity, or get the MMR shot. It was free, so I took it. The following year, same thing. Either get my medical records, or the shot.
