Just finished updating my 2026 #NSL teams spreadsheet. Just waiting on Cardiff Dragons who keep promising but not delivering (nothing new there)! #netball #NetballSuperLeague

Difficult to pick a #NSL2025 #TotW - purely as Thunder were so amazing, & it feels wrong to leave any of them out... GK: @alexjohnsonnnn_ [DRA] GD: @FadojuFunmi [PUL] WD: @16_taylorr [THU] C: @Emmarayner01 [THU] WA: @indyamasser_ [THU] GA: @ShannonMahlik [THU] GS: EvdB [THU]

I woke up in agony in the early hours of this morning having clearly been dreaming about Netball, as I thought I'd done my knee in somehow! I could not straighten my leg at all & the pain behind my knee was insane. Managed to gradually bend it further & eventually the pain eased!

Just for fun, here's how many players from each #NSL2025 team I'd pick for a team of unlimited size (I'm only considering players I'm fairly familiar with): Panthers: 4/8 Dragons: 3/8 Lightning: 7/9 Mavericks: 7/9 Forest: 6/9 Pulse: 10/10 Thunder: 12/14 Rhinos: 4/5 No Club: 8/25

To summarise NSL injuries/"medical conditions" so far: Pulse & Forest: 0 Dragons, Lightning, & Rhinos: 1 Mavericks: 2 Panthers: 3 Thunder: 4 15% (12) of the players initially signed for 2025 have missed at least one game 6.25% (5) have missed 1 game 8.75% (7) have missed 2 games #Netball #NSL2025

Watched some of the Team Girls Cup last night. The coverage is mad compared to over here. The execs from @SkyNetball & @BBCSport should be made to watch even just ½ a game & be told "this is what you need to do". You don't see poor quality or missing clocks in football. #Netball

I bought a season ticket & will be going to the arena game in Liverpool (even though it'll cost me a fair whack to get there & back), but from next season, I will not be going to arena games. It's a shame, as I love watching the girls play, but I just don't enjoy going to them.

~ @lostinmyminds.bsky.social · 16/03/2025

The Arena was barely 2/3 full - Sunday afternoons/evenings are not the right time for Arena games - they need to be Friday night or Saturdays. The staff are obnoxious & disinterested, & refreshment prices are extortionate. NSL needs to put this idea on the back burner for now.

~ @lostinmyminds.bsky.social · 16/03/2025

I've never liked the idea of the super shot & nothing I've seen has changed that. Yes, it's nice when you score one, but it's awful when your opponent does. It feels artificial - especially with it being only 5 mins. Also "Soft & Gentle" are absolutely the wrong sponsor for it!

In terms of the overall game day experience, I only turned up for the main event. There's no way I could have sat in that chair any longer. My knees were hurting after less than 10 minutes - I'm only 5'9" and I had no leg room. I feel for people who were any taller...

Indya did well when she came on, but Lightning shut down all the channels & as they're so tall, she was struggling to get the ball in at times, but that won't be the case every week. I'd have liked to try Indya @ C & Emma @ WA for Q4. Up top, Elmerè was busy doing Elmerè things.

Our shooters did as well as they could - playing against a defender as good as Shadine when she knows your game inside out is brutal. I love Anya - she's such a talent, but being so slight, she can't body up to strong defenders. Lucy shoots less, I feel, but holds better.

~ @lostinmyminds.bsky.social · 16/03/2025

Tay getting suspended (& subsequently kept out of the game because umpires are overly/unfairly critical of players who have been suspended) was unfortunate. Josie, Elia, & Ané all did well in defence, but their shooters were just too good & would have beaten any defence, I feel.

I thought we competed well in the midcourt - in particular Captain Fantastic Amy on her 100th appearance & Emma Rayner were both great. Amy is just a solid presence & Emma ran & ran & ran (literally) for 58 minutes. She was our player of the match for me.

Very tough game to watch tonight as a Thunder fan. We were never even level, let alone in front. It's tough playing the best team in the league when your team is decimated by injuries. The girls all did really well & gave it their all, but we don't match up well against Lightning

The last photo of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, detained after refusing to abandon his colleagues and patients. In just one image, we see both the power of Palestinian humanity and the moral weakness of all those complicit in genocide. End all arms sales to Israel, now.

Fixed my dodgy script (well, my dodgy calculations), so the correct changes to the #Netball World Rankings after the African Netball tournament is here - as you can see, it's done nothing much of anything useful for anyone. Malawi & Zambia underperformed & Eswatini unsurprisingly got a beating.

Throwing in a highly divisive, unproven new rule which significantly changes the tactics and style of play is a choice that screams lack of confidence in the new "product". Fewer teams, fewer players, new clubs, arenas, new broadcast deals... was all of that not enough? 3/3

I find the "new league, new rules" mentality surprising. NSL 2.0 is an evolution of an existing competition within a sport that has one of the highest participation rates of any sport in the UK and one where we are internationally competitive. 2/3

Potential effect of the Jamaica v South Africa 3 match series in January on the interim #Netball World Rankings... Jamaica need to win all 3 to maintain sole 3rd place. Losing one puts them equal 3rd with EN, losing two or three drops them back to 4th.

I'm already regretting my #FPL transfers this week. I'd planned to bring Saka back this week for Johnson or Rogers. Meanwhile, Mbeumo (who I was potentially going to sell in GW14) was due to drop in price, so I sold him! Mbeumo is great, but hasn't been as great since Wissa returned. 🤔 It's a risk!

@hibbo-fpl.bsky.social I've been looking at getting a Brighton defender. Some people recommend Dunk, some Van Hecke, and some Kadioglu, but no-one's mentioned Veltman even though he's got the most points of all the defenders & the 4th highest of anyone at Brighton. Is he worth a punt or not? 🤔

That was the most fabricated draw in the history of #Netball. The two umpires did everything they could to keep it as close to a draw all through the match. If this were football, they'd need a police escort out of here.
