4)Finally: last night I went to Midway Drive to document how unprepared the city is for higher tides that are already flooding the streets There were no advisories to the residents of this area I posted videos & a live stream on X for those who wish to see more details x.com/lorisaldanas...

3) This means higher construction costs, risks to public safety, and a more rapid deterioration of building foundations, streets, and underground infrastructure for San Diego and the Midway Sinking project All this will be accelerated by higher sea level near the proposed development area
News report during heavy rains The current sports Arena is at a very low elevation and at risk of groundwater flooding as sea levels rise US representative Scott Peters commented at a recent community meeting that he is concerned about the airport and sea level rise damage to surrounding streets and other structures

Please remind him that The airport is actually at a higher elevation than the sports arena.Todd Gloria and the San Diego office of Emergency services prepared this map, advising people to prepare for El Niño storm events by buying flood insurance and clearing drainage around their homes.

This FEMA map shows that the Midway area is considered at high risk for flooding.

Why would the city want to build more housing in sn area that is increasingly being subjected to flooding due to sea level arise?

2) El Niño is creating higher sea levels along the Pacific coast. Areas that are usually dry are now flooding and creating infrastructure problems due to rising groundwater near the coast.
The September high tides were predicted to be below 7 feet which normally does not cause flooding on Midway Dr. However, the El Niño warming event means higher sea level and flooding in the streets around the area where Todd Gloria wants to build thousands of new homes King tides are causing flooding in mission beach, across the river channel from ths Midway areaSea surface temperatures are increasing in response to climate change and El Niño. Warmer Waters mean higher sea level at a much faster pace than previously predicted. As sea level rises, ground water is pushed in lend and upward, disrupting, buried infrastructure, including building, foundations, water and waste, water, plumbing, electrical and gas, lines, and communication networks

1) For residents of San Diego: you may be hearing about Mayor Todd Gloria’s passion project: building 1000s of new homes at the Sports Arena site Unfortunately, developers refuse to investigate rising sea levels & groundwater flooding in this former saltmarsh. See: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-rn...

“#Climate scientist Daniel Swain said the very warm Pacific seas are expected to drive sea levels 6” to 2’ higher near California. “…winter does look like…there’s an increased likelihood of historically unusual to unprecedented rain and storm events” wapo.st/4p4sGb7
Heat map Image of Pacific Ocean. “The Pacific Ocean is running a fever. Major climate impacts are possible”Winds from storms this fall and winter will elevate the sea even more, potentially resulting in dangerous rises of 2 to 3 feet or more near the California coast.
“This is the time for local governments, for county governments and for the state government to start to prepare for a significant likelihood of much higher than average sea levels, more disruptive coastal flooding and potentially record-breaking coastal water levels during winter storm events and king tide events,” Swain said.
“This coming winter, right now, does look like one where there’s an increased likelihood of historically unusual to unprecedented rain and storm events,” Swain said.

The Medgar Evers murder retrial reminded me that people who weren’t allowed to vote in 1964 were also not allowed to serve as jurors. Looking forward: Will people in states who can’t meet new #VoterID requirements also be excluded from jury service? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_D...
DeLaughter is best known for leading the state's successful prosecution of Byron De La Beckwith for the assassination of civil rights leader Medgar Evers in 1994, more than 30 years after the crime. Two previous trials in 1964 following the event had resulted in hung juries; at the time, all the jury members were white because blacks had been prevented from voting in Mississippi and thus could not serve on juries. The state retried the case in 1994 based on new evidence.

Same vibes…
17 October 2019

A photo of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi confronting the President Donald Trump at a reportedly explosive White House meeting has become a symbol of the deep divisions in Washington.
In the image, leading Democrat Ms Pelosi is standing up at a large table, surrounded by male congressional leaders and top military officials, pointing her finger towards the president, who is seated opposite her and appears stunned.
Afterwards, Mr Trump took to his preferred social media platform, Twitter, to share the photo along with the caption: "Nervous Nancy's unhinged meltdown".
Ms Pelosi - who has said it was Mr Trump that had the "meltdown" - hit back by proudly making the image her cover photo on both Twitter and Facebook.Rep Ocasio Cortez confronts RFK
