CATRINITY guys i think we're kind of losing the plot of what "saluting" looks like. 3/10

180

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

ICONS8 ok making some bold new movements in the world of saluting emoji expressions here. i like that it doesn't look grim or serious, just sort of bored and dreadful. all quiet on the western front. 7/10

120

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

NOTO EMOJI not a good saluting emoji but a really really really really really really good "gently pats you" emoji. 10/10

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

TOSSFACE this is like if the apple emoji and discord emoji had a baby. appealing enough! not super interesting although the hand does kind of look like a pepis which is pretty fun. 7/10

130

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

JOYPIXELS this on the other hand is a pretty boring take on the apple classic. like ok we get it. the glove element isn't funny enough here to justify itself. whatever 5/10

130

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

HUAWEI REALLYYYYYYY REALLY LIKE THIS TAKE ON THE CLASSIC APPLE DESIGN. AWESOME fried egg eye. this is the salute of an emoji that's about to be so maliciously/stupidly compliant. really really really love this i gotta give it a perfect 10/10

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

FACEBOOK this stupid little mickey mouse handlet really gave me a laugh just now. the upward curve + weird glove situation means this thing is really giving gay butler to me. the hand really doesn't read clearly as a hand at small scale, so kind of just a failure here. 8/10 i really like it

150

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

TWT/DISCORD REALLY really awesome grim expression, really love it. enhanced by the fact tht the prominence of the thumb makes it look less like a salute and more like someone else is patting the head of this scowling emoji. so awesome. 8/10 GREAT base but distracting hand situation

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

WHATSAPP obviously i am pleased and amused by the blank expression, but this hand is weirdly kind of limp compared to the others. it's kind of giving 🫳 . really looks more like it's shading its eyes in the sun than saluting. 4/10

170

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

MICROSOFT TEAMS this is what i ACTUALLY use in my work chat. it's like, fine. kind of too perky. i like the slightly complicated 2-blink animation cycle, the bounce of the hand is cute. 6/10

150

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

SAMSUNG i REALLY like the face's proportions, very cute. hand still at a weird angle but at least it's a better achieved hand. cute little smile, appropriate for use e.g. in a work groupchat indicating to my boss that i'm on it. 8/10

160

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

GOOGLE NOTO COLOR not good. why is the hand at that weird angle, & so ugly and lumpy. looks like it's wiping its sweaty forehead in relief. pleasantly blank expression is somehow way less evocative than the :| of the apple emoji. 3/10. the animated version i do like, it gives a cheeky little wink

160

chip eater lore @loreothy.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

APPLE a classic. the only emoji where the face seems to have been cut in half for space, which gives it an air of mystery, as if it's half-standing behind a door. the rather grim expression is really awesome. 10/10

hate that all the "extra wide" glasses out there are 1. not even that wide (wym extra wide STARTS at 133mm) and 2. pretty corny. some of us dont want ULTRA BOLD FASHION STATEMENTS we just have broad faces

i love the color blocking on cotopaxi backpacks but the placement of the front and side pockets relatively high on the bag always kind of makes them look like they've shat their diapers

sorry just realized one of the pics had someone's face in it !!!!! repost without that pic + bonus live beast footage

mouse (small black cat) in the bowl attachment of her cat tree looking lumpy and soupish

flash shot at night of mouse in a chair w her arms outstretched and crossed in front of her. fabulous

mouse just now curled up in a chair on top of cair's sweater :( one paw outstretched. just begging to be gently petted

turns out n.ordstrom r.ack has remainders of this camisole visibly inspired by edwardian corset covers. and it was on sale. i ordered up a size and then had to alter it (took about 2-3in out of the shoulders) but in every other way it is the perfect item. look at those cute ass armpit gussets
