Why cant we try malting? It seems to me like malting facilities would make more sense and create a market for crop diversity if farmers had facilities to process their crop. I mean it coild be better than mass production of monocultures propped up by fictional subsidized safety net markets.

The expectation of rural residents living within the agriculture community is that everyone has to acquiesce to the fact that you will be absolutely blanketed with herbicides and pesticides. Additionally, reporting any pesticide application violations is double crossing the local ag community.
