From almost breaking my Switch out of frustration years ago to getting the platinum on PS5 (my 60th!) So incredibly happy I decided to give Hades another chance, as it continued to impress me the more I played it. Originally I was going to finish it once, but this time I happily sank in so much time

Picked up the Fortune's Weave special edition, as tradition dictates. This time I plan to play the game right away, instead of waiting until the next one eventually releases. Very excited for it!

Apparently I'm back in the 90s & surrounded by Greek everything (it was a happy time). Inspired by my recent Hades playthrough (still going strong), I finally bit and started The Song of Achilles. I've heard very very good things about this one, so very excited to finally give it a try!

Finished The Villa, Once Beloved by @victormanibo.com & I enjoyed it! A story about a cursed villa & the family that lives in it. A reunion brings the family together from near & far as the patriarch suddenly passes. A very spooky atmosphere permeates the experience, with solid tension throughout.

Been playing FFXIV here & there, since it released on Switch 2. I've got NSO & playing the Free Trial, which gets you through most of the game. It's been cute so far. Looking forward to moving past these intro missions & getting to the beefy parts of the game. Runs pretty well as far as I can tell.

Also borrowed Hades. I originally played it way back when on Switch, and was THIS CLOSE to involuntarily throwing my system across the room when something unexpected happened at the end. Happy I gave it another shot, cuz it's been a great time! A solid game that never feels stale as you progress.

Been borrowing games from the library. While perusing options I saw that they had Uncharted the Lost Legacy, which I've never played. A solid and surprisingly substantial DLC, I wasn't expecting it to be as hefty as it was. It's been a WHILE since I've played the series, and it was a great time!

Cleared Starfox campaign a few times. I sat with it for a bit after finishing, & while it was a visually impressive game that felt good to play, it unexpectedly disappointed in small ways. I feel like as a remake, since I wouldn't pick it over the original it failed in its purpose. But it's not bad.

It came late, so I likely won't be able to play it until next week, but still looking forward to this one.

Wrapped Resident Evil Requiem. It was a ROUGH start, because of how different Grace is as a character in this world. But once I got past the hurdle I enjoyed it. Continuing to go in the right direction IMO, and definitely more of an RE game than Village in my eyes, even when the story goes wacky.

Finished FE Engage. Overall solid strategy RPG. Prettiest FE to date. I really liked some of the QoL changes they've made with this one, including eliminating weapon durability & adding a weight mechanic. Spoiled by previous titles, so not as good story or characters compared to Awakening or 3H.

Since there are rumors floating around that the next Fire Emblem is releasing in May (I'd actually say July since the more recent entries released around then) I'm finally gonna give Engage a try. I bought it at launch, but like 3 Houses I never got to it. Hoping it's a good time.

Been going through my collection as I continue to navigate my backlog & Melee popped back into view. Not technically a backlog game, but because of an unfortunate incident years ago I lost my saved data. Plus it would be fun to revisit after so long, so might give it a try here and there.

Wrapped Persona 4 Dancing All Night & got the platinum. When playing actual dance stages the game's fun, but I definitely don't remember P3's story being so bad. VERY repetitive & unnecessary. Was a slog to get through even though it wasn't that long. Free Play & skipping story is the way to go.

Next up is the rest of the Persona Endless Night Collection. I finished P3 Dancing in Moonlight a while back, but never played P4 or 5. Shouldn't be a long one for either. Starting with 4.

Randomly decided to play Pokemon TCG on GB via NSO, cuz I still play the mobile game. An on & off cute diversion, once I got past the initial challenge of making a decent deck with available cards. This version has psychic weak against itself, which made that gym especially difficult. A fun time.

Had a few options on what to play next with my friend, and left it up to him. He chose Tales of Symphonia, so I had to dust off and set up my PS3. Looking forward to finally playing this game I've heard so much about!

Also wrapped King of Cards. What a joy it was returning to Shovel Knight after so long! I loved the previous game & DLC additions, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It's cool how it felt like an entirely different game, even though it was set within the others. Excited to play again someday.

Short but sweet indeed. Four Swords was a cute little game, and in hindsight I'm very thankful that they released an actual game down the line on the GameCube. It was fun while it lasted, but certainly felt like a demo more than anything.

LordKurama @lordkurama.bsky.social · 18/03/2026
With SD3 behind us, my friend & I have decided to give the GBA version of Four Swords a try, since it's the only version I haven't been able to play due to the required additional players (& expenses needed to manage that at the time). Should be a short one, but still a good time!

LordKurama @lordkurama.bsky.social · 18/03/2026
Next Up should be a quick one. I've owned Shovel Knight for quite a while, across a couple of platforms. I've beaten every campaign except King of Cards, which was the last. Time to fix that.

Rolled credits in Astral Chain, & doing post game challenges (until I don't wanna). A solid action game, though a bit flawed. Can't help but compare to Bayonetta, since it's Platinum. I think a bit of tweaking here & there would've made this game better, but it never reached that high I wanted.

It's been a long time coming but finally wrapped Seiken Densetsu 3, after playing on & off with a friend for a few months. A much darker & more serious follow-up to Mana, which fixed A LOT of issues the previous title had. There was so much to do, and the replayability for this one is crazy! SO GOOD

LordKurama @lordkurama.bsky.social · 23/02/2026
2026 is the year I genuinely try to work through my extensive backlog, while trying to not consciously add too much new stuff to it. I've had Astral Chain for a while, unplayed. Time to change that, especially since I've been playing a lot of RPGs lately.

Finished Live A Live, true ending & a couple more. The vastly different time period mechanics & unexpected endgame grind took a bit to get into, but I felt it all came together nicely in the end. Also really enjoyed the alternate path, which would've been mind-blowing way back when.

Since I'm traveling soon, figure the next one should be something on Switch. Let's see how this one goes!

Wrapped Tactics Ivalice Chronicles. It was as good as I remember it, after not having played it since the PSP rerelease. A MUCH better translation, & the fully voiced dialogue (& bonus battle convos) were also a welcome addition. Will slowly grind for the platinum alongside other games. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very likely my last new game of 2025, and possibly the first platinum of 2026? (Depends on how tough it is)

Wrapped Legends ZA. Overall a good package, if not flawed. When they said this game was going to take place in current day Lumiose, after playing Arceus I was a bit disappointed. While a very large city, the setting did get a bit stale in the end. I do appreciate GF for continuing to try new things.

Had some friends over & we played through Marvel Cosmic Invasion, which I had been looking forward to for a bit since they announced it way back when. It was fun! I enjoyed the larger roster for this type of game, & the difficulty progression never felt excessive with 4P. Great vibes throughout.

I knew this was gonna give me everything I needed. It's been so long since a new Katamari, & Once Upon didn't disappoint in the slightest. Some classic stages (even Cowbear 😭) & some new interesting ones. It's everything that I've always loved about this series. Soundtrack's obviously fantastic.

VERY excited for this next one. New Katamari in over a decade AND got it on holiday sale? Win win~

Wrapped DK Bananza. A game that really felt like an Odyssey lite. Some of the choices the game made were questionable IMO, like the bananas basically being optional thru the main game & the wonky camera when underground. It's not a bad game by any means & thankfully doesn't overstay its welcome.

Read through Flamer since I picked up Gaysians this summer & also enjoyed it. It's about a teenager who's trying to figure himself out in those weird years. A story that still holds true, demonstrating the destructive powers outside influences have on someone trying to just live. Captivating read.

Played Disney Illusion Island during the game trial period & finished it. I definitely wasn't expecting an extensive Metroidvania when I got into this one. The aesthetic & vibe of this one was really cool. Never felt particularly difficult to me. Not much to do once you beat it, but it was good!

Finished Ghost of Yotei & got the platinum. A solid game that improved on a lot of things from Tsushima, but at the same time left me wanting a bit. The characters & story weren't as compelling to me as the original. Aesthetically still gorgeous to travel & explore. Combat was more fun & strategic.

Wrapped The Girl on the Train. An entertaining enough whodunit. I try to go into these popular books with low expectations. It was a bit tougher to read because I wasn't a fan of any of the lead characters, as they were all pretty unlikable. Not much motivation to ever go back to this one either.

Finished Matriarch by Tina Knowles. Heard it was a great read & can confirm. The story that she has lived, even outside of her daughters, is completely fascinating. I felt engaged the entire time, and thankfully the story focuses on her. Obviously Beyonce is part of the story, but not the focus.

Started Ghost of Yotei and already blown away by how this game looks. It's gonna be a stunner for sure!

Wrapped the Iki Island DLC for Ghost of Tsushima ahead of Yotei. A nice addition in a new environment, with some very interesting additions that I hope they carry over to the new game (especially enemies swapping weapons mid fight & the horse charge). The game continues to blow me away visually.

LordKurama @lordkurama.bsky.social · 29/09/2025
Wrapped the main story of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut. Still as stunning as the last time I played it. Currently working through the DLC before Yotei releases later this week. One of the few games that has ever inspired me to take pictures in-game, because it truly is like a work of art.

Started up 2 games yesterday. Never finished Seiken Densetsu 3, so currently playing with a friend, and Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 ahead of the Yotei release.

Previously wrapped the first Klonoa game in the bundle. I've never played any of these before but I really enjoyed it! Difficulty ramped up A LOT by the end, to an almost frustrating degree, but the game was incredibly charming. I can see why it's so beloved by its fans. I'll eventually get to 2.

LordKurama @lordkurama.bsky.social · 06/09/2025
Wrapped Kirby Star Allies. A very cute adventure, with some fun elemental puzzles. Lots of customization options & plenty of modes to play after you're done. I'm sure it would've been fine to play alone, but it was definitely made with multiplayer in mind, & I'll happily give it a thumbs up there.

LordKurama @lordkurama.bsky.social · 18/08/2025
I'm traveling soon so I didn't want to start anything new that I wouldn't be able to continue if I didn't finish in time, so decided to finally give that Klonoa bundle I bought on sale a while back a try. I've heard a lot of good things about this series, so hoping for a great time!

Wrapped No Sleep For Kaname Date. A satisfying story with some fun puzzles. As a fan of the series I enjoyed it, but the previous games have spoiled me a bit. This one definitely feels more like a side story, with less weight & less to do overall. Not bad by any means, but still a bit of a letdown.

Started Tiny Tina's Wonderlands with a friend. Curious to see how it turns out. At the very least I picked it up for less than $15, so if it's at least enjoyable I won't be mad.
