Some of my friends were shocked when I told them I don't love half of the games we play together. They're fine games, I don't hate playing them, but I wouldn't play them by myself. What game we play is largely immaterial for me, I simply enjoy getting to spend time with my friends and talking.

I treat going to the movies nowadays exclusively as a date night/event type of thing. I saw Odyssey in imax 70mm. Didn't really care about the movie going into it, would have been fine waiting to see it eventually at home. But I went because it was a rare cool thing to be able to do.

A part of me wonders if the art book was made in the early days of GenAI, before it was an immediate marketing nightmare, and when it was expected of employees to be trying it out internally like any other new emerging "tool". I think the timeline could line up, the movie went into prod in 2021.

I know Colville's mentioned a few times on stream that the reason MCDM doesn't ever submit stuff for awards (especially back in the 5e days) is for similar reasons. MCDM doesn't really gain anything from it; it only draws attention away from creators who would actually benefit from it.
