Do I really need to spell it out? English choral music is NOT part of British or UK cultural heritage. It's part of England's. Written by a member of the B̶r̶i̶t̶i̶s̶h̶ U̶K̶ English Parliament. www.theguardian.com/music/2026/o...

Choral evensong has been on our airwaves for 100 years today. Long may this vibrant, thriving art form continue | Jonathan Davies
One hundred years since the BBC first broadcast choral evensong, MP and former chorister Jonathan Davies hymns a beautiful and empowering collective experience that we should praise – and protect

Those applying will need to remember that in the future you will be required to explain that Farage called and you answered. You didn’t need to, yet you did. They need to consider whether you are happy to carry that act with you into the future?

Why, oh why, are people putting up photos of that woman! Without trigger warnings either! It’s traumatising- and that’s not hyperbole. She devastated Scotland, traumatised and scarred so many lives.

It is undemocratic… but also daft. They have folk trying to get elected in Scotland- how will it go down at the door when they say, ‘Please elect us to your Parliament, that place we want to close down/remove powers from. We’ll make your vote go …nowhere. Vote us!’

Just to be clear, that Scottish government is elected by the Scottish people, using a system WM designed to ensure they kept SNP out of power. Bowie is boasting of removing the rights of Scots to a democratic say.

Reasons for independence No. 1: without it, watch as WM use Scotland as a dumping ground for all the nasties, whilst pillaging our resources. I say ‘watch’ because, without Indy, we can do nothing about it!

Charity is asking Scottish Government for 'radical change' to tackle child poverty. Cost of electricity and gas, cost of petrol/diesel, food, mortgages, rent. None controlled by the SG. The Child Payment is controlled by the SG and is the reason why child poverty in Scotland is far less than in rUK

Who can claim?- not Scots apparently. WM blocked our perfectly good scheme for no justifiable reason.

As an independent member, we would have the same terms as every other member, the same voice, the same right to choose. Within the Uk, we had no voice, no veto. Apparently we can leave the UK only if we find the magic permission key. UK showed we could leave EU and hen we wish,

In taking us out of the EU against our will, then negotiating on our resources without our involvement, WM shows us that it is not enough to be a member of the EU whilst being in the UK.

Of course he wouldn’t…in the same way unionist politicians see no issue in congratulating other countries on gain on their independence ( often from England or UK) whilst avoiding the wishes of their partners.

Most of my relatives are in England, and my experience of visiting them in 2014(pre Ref) was of the real ignorance( not pejorative- I mean it in the truest sense) of their friends in relation to Scotland. It was like coming from Papua New Guinea, somewhere well beyond their ken.

LoobyLoo @loobyludicrous.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Why do they feel they can say things like ‘3 of 4 partners want out, but WE( the odd 1 out) won’t let them have their wish’ and not expect the world to looks at them nd ask ‘Who do you think you are?’

And simultaneously fail to engage effectively with those unsure of their position or,like some of my 2014 colleagues, those broadly pro Indy but unconvinced that the leadership exists to guide us through the transition period. It’s interesting that Stephen Flynn left WM and has been largely silenced.

I agree entirely. But the narrative is left unchallenged by those given the opportunity - and I don’t understand why. The argument is so often weakly presented. Go in armed with evidence like yours and USE it. Stop playing nicely,I say-no one ever won a debate by deferring.

There are always receipts. Although, ultimately, the argument the Union needs to make( good luck) is why it is acceptable for a country to be deprived of the right to choose whether they want self determination or have that right held by another.

It was more than unnecessary. It was low, disingenuous in its attempt to portray the FM as callous and inhumane, and uncomfortable in the way it centred himself rather than the country he is supposed to govern.

Since when was it in any country’s interests to have their rights held outside of that country? It is OUR decision as to what’s in our own interests and our parliament reflects our views.

In England! This is about pensioners in England. In Scotland, there is no quid pro quo as a selling point for this decision. But then,Burnham thinks Manchester is the north of his kingdom. The man is out of his depth and I hope karma is delivered in spadeloads on him and on the MPs who crowned him.

I live in Scotland where my government already provides free care.Within a fixed budget. It’s about the decisions the government make, what they value. What hasLabour become that it now regularly targets the weak and vulnerable? And has he considered the rising costs to NHs of cold and hungry elderly?

So, as promised, bang goes the triple lock on pensions. Pensioners will now see the fixed income fail to keep up the cost of living( the reason why it was introduced in the first place) and now the elderly will not just be cold in the winter because they choose food over heat, they’ll be hungry./

I see the app is that the ‘money saved’ will be spent providing free personal care. Now, I’m fairly sure Scotgov. already provide that to Scottish elderly from their more limited budget. So Scots lose the triple lock so that English pensioners are ‘persuaded’ there’s a reciprocal offering.

I have no problem with that ‘no help’ clause. I will even let the inaccuracy of ‘again’ stand.Where do we sign ? As an Independent country we won’t miss illusory ‘help’ but will notice the absence of another country helping themself to our resources.
