Back story: they chose a grey but when the gates were painted they didn't like it and are now considering other, darker greys. But it's definitely going to be grey.

Call us judgemental, but this is ugly, isn't it? But someone liked it enough to allow it to be built; someone even *paid* for it to be built!

A house which has had some features 'modernised' at some point in the past is normally to be pitied, but here a late Victorian house has had the door and the brick surround remade in the 1920-30s. And though unusual, it looks good.

Puzzling image at maps.app.goo.gl/H8sPmMfMhHPg... . That shadow of a flying pigeon is thrown by the pigeon to the upper left. However, the wings in the shadow do not correspond to the wings on the actual bird. How to explain that?

Old steps at the entrance to the rear of an old pub, now The Byrds. Aylmer Rd E11. The stones have been worn away by the tread of patrons over the years.

So many different ways to treat one's own front garden, removing all plants being one. This was December, hence the festive plastic greenery around the patterned security grills. Napier Ave SW6.

A pub converted to residential. Would it really not have been possible to leave the door, steps and gate in place? Even if not used. Buildings look better when they are treated with respect. Glenarm Road, E5

We spotted this marble block in the Embassy of Greece's Holland Park front garden in July 2024. (It's not there in 2017 Google Street View.) Question: Is it art? And if not, what?

This livery stable survived the bombs of both world wars. Prime real estate, it has also survived the property developers of the past 7 decades. Not on the national list, let's hope it's locally listed. Bouverie Road N16

These railing finials caught our attention. Elephant Pale Ale was once stored in this 1900 building, corner Hawley Crescent, designed by William Bradford. The finials are quite recent (2014/15) but are a charming enhancement.

We passed this house last summer. It boasts 3 sculpted keystones, each decorated with a head. The central one did not hold our attention but these two demanded to be photographed and, still, leave us speechless. SW18, Fairfield Street, corner Tonsley Place.
