iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

As a side note ever notice how ads are almost always displaying the same 12 companies everyone already knows about? Radio ads have the benefit of actually advertising for local services and events... The sheer volume of advertisements for the same few companies is brainwashing

And the Radio.... All this bullshit subscription stuff makes me just want to get a radio and listen to radio shows forever without paying another cent

Lol those are the videos I like too!!! And stuff like tutorials, I heard someone else mention that their kid needs YouTube for things like music and tutorials... When I was a kid YouTube was the only way I discovered new pop music, because it was free!

That sounds amazing... I do most of my online socializing on Discord, in different Discord servers, it's basically just a bunch of chatrooms! Try joining some public Discords abt something you're a nerd about! I only use social media to share my work and catch news about my interests

120

You know you're right about that for sure!! I really miss an Internet that was more like this! Where you could search a subject and get unique sites and blogs and forums about the subject... Not just a MILLION bullshit AI generated articles about it 😢😢😢

I'm gen Z and I still hold on to that way of sharing software and communicating on the internet! It's something we're all fighting for, while the "Internet commons" just keep getting more and more predatory..

Spy tactics undermine trust in parenting, which will cause the child to learn how to hide and evade the parents' knowledge. Explaining things and their reasons thoroughly is the best way. And holding them accountable

Make the internet safer for everyone! That doesn't mean censorship or ID banning, that means fostering positive community, which is exactly what spaces like Club Penguin did, and they did it intentionally. Algorithm-driven sites that feed on arguments and jealousy will never be safe

I'm gen z and at least growing up I had spaces like Club Penguin and game websites where I could play with other kids! There are other ways to use the Internet than social media, it's just that the web has been centralized and bought up by The Big Companies... Even Roblox is more about profit now

Oh yo I remember this game from one of those game showcases during GDC week, great stuff I LOVE the art direction

this is extreme cope oh my god

the app also limited a lot of tags that the app stores didn't agree with or whatever the fuck, like you could not search "#furry" on the app for as long as I used it (which was not long)

000

Same!! I really miss the old profile customization with stamps and basic coding. It was my introduction to coding as a kid!!

dA users also post bases with layers and file dependency as well as 3d assets

It was more about contributing to a community than building your own numbers and that's what I really miss

Modern social media feeds are all about being the biggest and the best... Old dA let you share art with everybody, and see art from everybody, not just the top "content creators" 😭😭

The closest I can find is Artfight and Toyhouse, but even still it's not as casually friendly as old dA used to be. And those are just for OCs, it's so hard to find a good art-sharing fandom-focused community that also functions as an art gallery!!! And that's crazy!!!

I'm right there with you and it's tragic because nothing has truly been able to capture the community that used to be on there... deviantArt is the first place I found to share art with others online as a kid! It was so important to me but now it's a hollow shell :( Unrecognizable

should have a "idk I'm bored and want to work on something" option that randomly either opens a past project or starts a new one

They want to pay senior level workers an entry level salary, that's all it is

When I graduated with a game dev degree, my professor discouraged us from entering "the industry" because of how unsustainable and grueling it is well known to be. I believe indie can do better, once we all have a little more sustainability in our lives in general...
