It is time to replace my h2d heat bed, I think. 2400h and lots of whistles later, it’s developed a decidedly not-flat shape.
A 3D graph with a black background displays data points connected by lines, forming a curved surface. It’s an exaggerated representation of a build plate, and it has about .5mm of deviation from flat, especially along the middle front.

I had amazing donuts this morning. I am now experiencing the hunger that comes when all you have is sugar in the morning.
Six cream filled donuts in a box on a counter. The box is labeled “the flour box Seattle, WA” on the inside of the lid.
On the left are two apple filled donuts, on the right are two Biscoff donuts, and in the middle are an almond cookie donut and a chocolate and tahini donut.

The Biscoff might be the best donut I’ve ever had.

Why do so many books say “A novel”?!
A wooden shelf displays a variety of books with "Ready Reads" stickers. The top row features titles like "The First Time I Saw Him" and "The Future Saints." The middle row includes "Deeper Than the Ocean" and "The Widow." The bottom row showcases "Isn't It Obvious?" and "The Wilderness." Almost all of them have “A novel” subtitle.

I resent that the current offensive use of AI feels like it obligates everyone to set money on fire for tokens to stay secure.
A screenshot of a black and white note with black text. The text reads "a note for the blue team. This part is important enough that it gets its own section. The attackers have already integrated LLMs into their exploit pipelines. If you have not done the same on the defensive side, you are bringing a clipboard to a gunfight. Here is what I think every engineering and security team should be building toward right now: Integrate LLMs at the point of code push. Every pull request, every merge, every deploy. Run AI-assisted security review as part of your CI pipeline, the same way you run linters and unit tests. Not as an afterthought, not as a quarterly audit. At push time. If the code has a vulnerability, catch it before it reaches production. The cost of fixing a bug in a PR review is orders of magnitude lower than fixing it after a CVE drops. Integrate LLMs for patch analysis. When an upstream dependency releases a security patch, your pipeline should automatically pull the diff, analyze what changed, determine if your codebase is affected, and flag it. This should not require a human to read a mailing list and open a Jira ticket. It should happen in minutes, automatically, the moment the patch hits

3d printing as an outlet to have some control over the world I live in. Gonna start the other shoe tonight.

I _actually_ solved an annoyance by modeling and 3D printing something last night. For four years, our bedroom door has jiggled loudly, because they used a regular door latch to hold a small cylindrical post. This is TPU; it’s flexible but holds its shape. NO MORE JIGGLING. SO SATISFYING.
A very large thumb holds a less than thumbnail sized doohickey in front of a white wall. It’s a shiny black rounded rectangle with a hole through the middle.

The North-American Fiber-Seeking Backhoe; the scourge of people who make the internet run in the US. Fun fact, every continent has a species, too. they're everywhere
"An informational poster about the 'North American Fiber-Seeking Backhoe' (Backhoe fili-comedens), presented in a humorous tone as though the backhoe were an invasive species. The image features a large green excavator in a snowy field, with details on its 'habitat' (urban and suburban areas), 'diet' (primarily fiber optic cables), and 'weight' (13,000 to 25,000 lbs). A map shows its range across North America. The poster humorously describes the backhoe's appetite for buried cables and mentions related 'species' like the European Fiber-Seeking Backhoe. The IUCN status is labeled as 'Too #%$& Many,' reflecting its prevalence. The design is styled like an ecological or wildlife conservation infographic.
