Birthday present for my friend. This was my first time embroidering a cover, using leather on an exposed sewn spine, and using paper I made (on the inside cover pastedown), which was from my medicine paper class.

A small handmade book stood on end. The spine is dark blue leather and the cover is a rose gold textured paper. The pages are sewn into the spine with the sewing exposed on the cover in light-colored thread, in the shape of two hearts mirrored vertically with vertical lines between them. The cover has a very simple embroidered design in the same thread of a lion's head.

Same as the previous picture, except the book is turned to show the spine a little better.

The book opened to show the inside cover, which has a pastedown of light-colored handmade paper with plant leaves incorporated into it.
