Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 13hSounds amazing! I’m off to Scotland this week- but unfortunately not for pleasure, so I haven’t been able to get out this weekend. Might head to the coast at the weekend though - if I don’t head out for the rut again. 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 14hThanks Nick. Hope you’re well - how’s migration where you are? 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 14hArent they incredible. I’ve never seen a female- you’re very lucky. Hopefully I might find one next year 🤞🏻 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 15hThanks. I’d obviously have preferred better light/less noise/an interesting background but to get it on camera in those conditions was such a challenge. Maybe one day I’ll see one and get the great conditions they really deserve to show off their beauty. 010
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 18hIt took me a moment to process what I was looking at, but it sparked a thrilling few minutes by the edge of the loch, desperately trying to keep him in focus before he glided over the grassy moorland to continue his hunt. #birds #birdphoto 4323
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 18hThis isn’t perfect (far from it) but it’s a reminder of the split second I realised the sudden panic among the shorebirds was the work of an altogether more special predator.. It was a true 'white ghost' and the sense of threat felt entirely distinct. 1110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 18hSometimes photography isn’t isn't about capturing the perfect shot; it's about the pure adrenaline of spotting a species you've never managed to frame before. It was only my second time ever encountering a Hen Harrier - and just like before, he was absolute lightning! 2250

Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 05/10/2026It’s a big place - and they don’t stand still so it’s quite possible that they’re moving when I’m moving- just in different directions. But it is a bit of a concern. 010
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 05/10/2026They’re so full of hormones at this time of year -they become hyper focused on the hinds, and deterring other Stags. All of that means they’re less focussed on food and can drop 1/3 their weight just when they need more energy. Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026They don’t have predators other than man. They say they cull because it would become overrun/inter-bred, more old and ill animals + parasites etc They cull (shoot)during Sept & lots of the older familiar stags have sadly gone and I haven’t seen many younger ones either. Rarely- they move them. 120
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026They don’t eat much during the rut, so he’ll be even more exhausted by the end of it. They lost a stag a couple of years ago. He walked into the pond and just keeled over. 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Thanks Marina. I love watching them. He was seeing off all comers- but no actual parallel walking of clashing of antlers today. 010
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Yeah- those antlers are heavy. I bet they’re relieved when they drop. 010
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026One of the big boys. There aren’t too many around this year due to the cull. I understand the why, but I still don’t have to like it. 2513
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026😄 yeah - if you don’t know what they are it would be pretty scary. Add the sound of the tawny and little owls flying around and it was pretty eerie this morning. Plus thick fog leaves you blind to where the other stags are coming from (and you don’t want to play piggy in the middle, trust me 😆). 010
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026The Rose-ringed parakeets don’t let the prickly outer husks of the horse chestnuts get the better of them #ukwildlife #birds 0398
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Thank you ☺️- the fog is nice over the water. 000
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I had a bit of a play around with video today- as I couldn’t get the photos I wanted due to the fog. Here’s an Egyptian goose having a slow mo preen and flap #birds #ukwildlife 0293

Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It was a bit of a white out this morning, when visiting the stags. I took this just before I left- at 11am, when this rather tired Stag decided to take a rest after defending his females from 5 or 6 separate males. #ukwildlife #deerrut #redstag 1474
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Thank you - video is way out of my comfort zone, but I felt the sound really added something. 010

Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Thanks. She sounds like she’s swallowed a kazoo (remember those) 😂 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I do see them in lots of places in my town (Hampshire, UK). But rarely where I live (and never in the trees along that footpath). 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Yes, there was a lot of chasing taking place first thing this morning - and a few little groups forming, and one brief clash of antlers. But it’ll be soon. 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I’ve never seen it before - and my experience with crickets and grasshoppers it’s very very limited. It makes me interested though. 100
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026It’s the first I’ve seen it- but it’s also uncommon for me to see these birds where I was yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve photographed one there in nearly 5 years. The drought might be the cause, perhaps a lack of their usual food nearby. 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026They do. But I don’t think the bush cricket can fly- we had one on our table at a pub and I had to take it back outside as it was stuck. So I think probably grasshopper is correct 💁🏼♀️ 100
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Yes I think so. I wasn’t sure whether a bush cricket - but I don’t think they have wings/ wings this big 210
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Does anyone know what the Great Tit caught. I can’t quite work it out- maybe a cricket? #birds #birdphoto #birders #ukwildlife 2313
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026He was amazing. He’s such a great Stag to watch. He’s very good with the little fawns. 110
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Yes so sweet. That’s what made me think I should film a little bit video of her too. Plus the light was just gorgeous. 010
Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The sweet female red deer (one of Wonky’s harem). I’m not sure if she was calling to her fawn. A bit wobbly again- I’ll have to get a stronger tripod. #ukwildlife #reddeer 1475

Stephanie Graham @logicaphotography.bsky.social · 27/09/2026She was barking/bleating - whatever they do. I have a bit of video somewhere if I can work out how to get it off the memory card 😂 110
