I had never seen a grouse until this summer! I caught a video of a Sooty Grouse in Yosemite National Park while walking along the Panoramic trail. It was so awesome I got chills. Their call sounds a little like someone blowing over a large jug or bottle. #wildlife

Caught this little one right after I crawled out of my tent a couple mornings ago. It looks like an Apache (or perhaps Plains) Pocket Mouse. Mainly nocturnal, they often live right under these desert prickly pear cactuses. They have actual pockets! More info: www.nps.gov/whsa/learn/n....

A photo of a “burl” growth on a redwood. When a redwood is damaged, another tree will sprout of that damaged area. It’s a tree growing on a tree!

Very tall Redwoods. Paradoxically, these are younger trees. Many of the older, thicker trees were left by loggers in years before simply because they were too difficult to process.

A photo of Logan trying to be cute while capturing the tops of the Redwood grove’s canopy. Fun fact: they get almost half of their water from the moisture in the air up there!
