I meant CDN cache; we have a handful of regional servers hosting the data and it may not have sync'd/refreshed. But the groupings are definitely there!

We've seen people confused about what exactly is going away. Alchemy (the format) is going away. Alchemy (the cards) are staying. Rebalanced cards will be reverted. Oracle of the Alpha stays. You can play it in Historic/Timeless. Rebalanced 0/3 A-Symmetry Sage is reverting to 0/2 Symmetry Sage.

Scryfall is redefining what a card being "full-art" means in search, and adding a new term: Translucent. Since the introduction of the is:default and is:atypical designations, one issue has surfaced from their definitions: cards with translucent frames (Eldrazis) were not showing up as "default". 🧵

Rebalanced cards are those whose names start with an “A” symbol. You can view a list of all Rebalanced cards here (until September 22nd): scryfall.com/search?q=is%... You can see the Rebalanced One Ring (left) and the normal One Ring (right) in this image.

On September 22nd: 1. We will save all of our Rebalanced card images and data to a zip file that people can download permanently. 2. We will convert all Rebalanced cards to their normal versions in all decklists on our site. 3. We will remove all of our database entries for Rebalanced cards.

Hi, folks. Just a quick reminder that @scryfall.com has automated processes that handle whether cards that were just added are reprints or not. Those run overnight. We JUST added the Miku cards. Just now. Literally. The reprint job won't run for another ~12 hours or something. Please be patient!

Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 08/07/2026
There’s more to this than just adding the cards. Needs to be part of a larger sync process between us and a verifiable source. So it’s already backlog.
100
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 08/07/2026
I discussed it with other team members and we cannot take action at the moment. Mostly because we have no verifiable way to know what does and doesn’t exist between different MTGO shops with conflicting data. It’s part of a bigger issue that needs remedied. Just can’t be fixed right now.
100
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 07/07/2026
We catalog these things but getting it on the site is tricky and not under my purview. Another team member usually does exports from MTGO.

Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 06/07/2026
A lot of the showcase stuff wasn’t on Gatherer in non-English back when these sets were imported. We get all those from WotC. We’ll likely have to scrape those, but it will probably be lower priority.

The cache I'm talking about is different. We're talking about the source of download, which is always Scryfall at the moment. The mod creators are working to set up a cache of those images online so the mods download from it and not from our servers every time decks are loaded.
030
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 29/06/2026
It's more the total volume of card images being downloaded than it is the speed at which they're done. The images need to be cached on a separate server used by the mod. The creators are working on a solution.
030
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
There's no dispute. It's straight-up that we have to do what's best for the site's operation. The ability to make those mods work properly is in the hands of the mod creators and not something we can help with. Once they have them working within the terms we set (for everyone!) we can unblock.
120
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
Other sites that use our imagery for deck building or card analysis cache our images for their own users, as they follow the guidelines we put out there in the terms of service and API documentation.
110
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
It's not a money or crowdfunding thing from our side. There's nothing we at Scryfall can do to fix this issue outside of some extreme fixes. This would be on the mod makers to come up with a solution and fund their image cache hosting. Nothing to do with Scryfall.
110
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
I'm not sure what comms you're disappointed with but when the site is crashing for the entire community, we have to do something to stop it from happening. The mod creators have the information they need (they're on our server). And my posts are to address the public about the situation.

Scryfall has nothing to do with any of that. We have terms of service that tell users how our site and data can and can't be used. When someone (a TTS mod maker, for example) uses our data improperly, we are within rights to block access to protect the site for others to use. scryfall.com/docs/terms

I'm not sure what you mean or are referring to. The site and everything else is working as expected. The exception is Tabletop Simulator mods, which will not function while we are blocking UnityPlayer.
130
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
Definitely understand that a lot of people play this way, but it's not something we can support. If people want to play that way, someone needs to put in the work to do it the right way.
5101
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
We had to temporarily block UnityPlayer about five or six months ago for the same issue. The creators of the mods/importers were told what they had to do to fix it, but have not yet done so. So, we're essentially forced to take action until someone does the right thing.
1132
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
We allow end users to link directly to our imagery (cards.scryfall.io URLs) but when an application is loading hundreds/thousands of cards at once, they need to cache their own copy of the imagery. TTS mods/importers are not doing this. When this traffic spikes, the site gets slow and goes down.
2102
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
There is a separate issue, mildly related, with people unable to use Tabletop Simulator mods to play Magic. Yesterday we had to block UnityPlayer agents from accessing the site. The extreme amount of traffic caused by players loading card imagery was crippling Scryfall for regular use.
1122
Logan @ Scryfall.com @logan.scryfall.com · 27/06/2026
This situation should be resolved, now.
