O, come vnto me, Bartzabel

Finished reading My Hero Academia: Vigilantes on my break at work today. What a brilliant prequel (and prequel within a prequel) series, with great art and characters. I wish it didn't end quite as it did but shonen and romance are not common bedfellows.

@elspethcooper.bsky.social Watched some Yes, (Prime) Minister clips whilst doing the washing up. "I am NOT the Prime Minister's mother-in-law, Bernard!" is still an excellent line.

Pls read my books - they take place in my homeland, Texas, where they are challenged & it makes me sad for Lipan readers who want to see characters like them.

Just finished Lisa Kaltenegger's Alien Earths, a non-fic book about how understanding our planet, solar system and Sun can help us find habitable planets or even alien life. Very interesting read, and pretty understandable for the most part.

The new Skáld album, Ørlǫg, came out a week or two ago and I only recently found out about it and bought it today. Quite enjoying it so far, especially because there is a track called Ratatoskr which is about @alicehancock.bsky.social 's Ultimate Cousin. My favourite track so far is Himinbjǫrg.

I am reading a pop science book about life on other planets, and I feel stupid 'cos I can't get my head around the density of white dwarf and neutron stars.

No, you're nearly 37 and cried at Toy Story 5.

Got to admit I'm a little disappointed. The new Star Wars Unlimited set is out next week and it has no card of Jecki Lon despite having most of the main cast of The Acolyte. I don't know how you can include Master Sol and Yord, but not include Jecki.

Not sure what I think about the Mercedes F1 livery for BahLaysia. I understand why it is what it is, but from the camera above the driver it looks a bit much. It's okay from the side though.

Just back from seeing The Matrix in the cinema with a friend. Amazing film, loved every second. Shame it was the OG cut with the deadnaming in the credits.

I don't know why I didn't want to repose my new figure, but I played around and thought this was a cool pose.

The Blokees Fantastics figure of Mari Makinami Illustrious from Neon Genesis Evangelion. The figure is of a slim Japanese woman in a pink bodysuit with white, black and blue details. She is posed almost sitting on the ground with her right arm propping her up, and her left hand outstretched as if for the viewer to take it.

Tonight I saw Akira for the first ever time. The ending is a bit damp but otherwise it is a stellar film with some amazing animation and attention to detail.

Another sumo basho is going down to the final day! Massive upset in the final match today, one which made me cheer, and it means Aonishiki has a good shot of consecutive winning tournaments.

I got some random trading card packs today (one was on offer, I was curious about the other) and wow, MtG cards feel really thin and cheap compared to others.

I won't alt-text this as it's far too long (apologies), but Green is stuff I have finished or want to see. Blue is stuff I have part-watched. Obviously I don't watch good TV.

Having a Space Science think (astrophysics) and wondering if the movement of the Solar System within the galaxy has to be factored into rocket/satellite launch calculations, or if it functions as a closed system. If not, could we not yeet something "backwards"?

Started playing ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs. It's very much along the lines of Car Mechanic Sim, Assemble With Care, etc. in that you are doing very repetitive tasks for a reward which you can use to improve your tools or buy new ones, etc. etc.

I might have to change my Movie Night plans for Saturday. Toy Story 5 is on D+ and I want to see that more than Akira.

SNW Season 4 done, and I think it's been okay. I feel it has been the weakest so far but it's also had some brilliant moments. I found the end a little emotional.

Here's my #my9games, most from my childhood but a couple from being a bit older. Civ (I remember we had III, I don't remember if we had earlier ones), AoE and Dune II definitely got me into strategy even though I still suck at them. TOCA was the best racer, Star Fox my very first "own" game...

A My 9 Games grid with box art for nine games. From left to right:
Row 1 - TOCA Championship Racing, Spyro the Dragon, Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors
Row 2 - Dune II, The Longest Journey, World of Warcraft
Row 3 - Star Fox, Sid Meier's Civilization III, Age of Empires

On a similar note, the values in astrophysics and astronomy. The Sun loses ~5m tons of mass per second according to Lisa Kaltenegger's Alien Earths. How are you meant to get your head around numbers like that?

Still occasionally thinking about how I struggle with evolution. Not in the sense that I don't believe in it, but in trying to get my head around how new species are formed. It's the lack of a clear demarcation that makes it hard for me, as I'm like "well when does X become Y?"

I can't decide if I want to watch Bullet Train or not. It feels like the recent GitS live-action where they Westernised something Japanese, but kept it Japanese?

I thought I'd try the #My9Animes thing. It's as much a list of anime that has shaped me as it is a list of anime I love. And I just realised Attack on Titan isn't on my list, I'd possibly replace MHA:V with it.

A grid of 9 anime shows that shaped me. From top left they are:
Steins;Gate, Aldnoah.Zero, Hellsing,
Wandering Son, My Hero Academia, Kaiju No. 8,
Nichijou, Azumanga Daioh, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.

That's Eternal Threads done. Pretty good, started to drag a little towards the end, and then comes to a good conclusion. Which it then ruins by dropping a cliffhanger ending that I doubt will ever be followed up on.

Katie's current pie-in-the-sky thinking - Everyone gets a weekly allowance of bread, milk, etc. (including alternatives) and if you want more you can buy more, and luxuries have to be paid for. So everyone is given basic food, no charge, but if you want (say) crisps or biscuits you have to pay.
