Check out how I got a 1997 Tiger Game.com connected to the internet again 2026! www.hackster.io/kevin-loeffl... Probably the most fun I've had with a retro gaming/vintage computing project in a while.
A Tiger Game.com with the text "Have you ever read the headlines on a 1997 Tiger Game.com?" above it. On screen is the text:

Just submitted ForecastSkill to the 2025 OpenWeather Challenge, a Claude Skill that scores weather conditions for activities like skiing, hiking, and picnics as well as gets up-to-date weather forecasts from OpenWeather's API right in your Claude chats. Code: github.com/kevinl95/ForecastSkill
A Claude chat window with the text: "Use the forecast-skill to tell me when the best time to go skiing at Loveland is

I'll read the forecast skill first to understand how to use it properly.

Now I'll use the activity recommendation feature to check skiing conditions at Loveland:

bash
python /mnt/skills/user/forecast-skill/skills/get_weather.py activity skiing "Loveland, Colorado"

Based on the 5-day forecast, Thursday, November 20th is the best day for skiing at Loveland with the highest score of 79.5/100.

Here's the breakdown:

Thursday, Nov 20 - Best day (score: 80) - Coldest at 8.8°C with overcast clouds
Tuesday, Nov 18 - Second best (score: 77) - 13.8°C with broken clouds
    Monday, Nov 17 - Good (score: 75) - 14.3°C with broken clouds

I'll first read the forecast skill to understand how to use it properly.

Now I'll use the activity recommendation feature to find the best hiking days in Colorado. Since you're in Erie, Colorado, I'll check the forecast for a nearby hiking location.

bash
cd /mnt/skills/user/forecast-skill && python skills/get_weather.py activity hiking "Colorado" 5

I’ve just published TeXBloX, a free and open-source Forge app for Confluence that renders LaTeX math natively on your pages. No CDNs, no data collection! It runs entirely on Atlassian’s infrastructure. Marketplace link: marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/2235854...
A browser window displays a menu reading "LaTeX Formula Configuration", with a simple integral displayed inside. Below are controls for displaying the equation inline or block. Below that are buttons that display a quick example for the quadratic formula, an integral, a sum, and a matrix. Below that are a "Save Formula" and "Cancel" button pair.A browser window displays a page titled "LaTeX Demo" published on Confluence. On the page is the text "Hello world" followed by the formulas e=mc^2, the quadratic formula, a simple integral, a basic matrix, the Schrodinger equation, and a simple derivative.

"Quishing", or QR-code phishing, is on the rise! www.QRTrust.fyi is a web app I made that you can use on your Android or iOS phone to scan QR codes and find out if the website they link to is suspicious. It works by checking each url against the crowd-sourced PhishTank database!

Learn how to build your own map of MTA E-ZPass retailers and color-code them based on wheelchair accessibility using Python, Folium, and Netlify! This was my submission for the 2024 MTA Open Data Challenge (new.mta.info/article/cele...)! Link: github.com/kevinl95/ez-...
A map of New York showing the location of MTA E-ZPass retailers. Locations that are not accessible with wheelchairs are marked red, whereas accessible locations are marked green.

My latest project was recently featured on Instructables! In this guide I will show you how to build a low-power credit card skimmer detecting keychain. These skimmers, often found in gas pumps and ATMs, emit a Bluetooth signal that this keychain can detect. www.instructables.com/Making-an-E-...
A white rectangular device with an electronic ink screen displays "Devices found: 0" and on the next line "Skimmers found: 0". The device is dangled in front of a gas pump at a fuel station.
