Rollan has the stories his father used to tell him memorized but nothing physical. Veronica has a toy her mother gave her. All children of Dorrain are given a tiny toy that can be moved with magic so that they would be less likely to be afraid of magic as they grew up. #Octember

The city of Dorrain sprawled across the floating disk. A wall that stretched a few feet above the perimeter buildings and a transparent domed shield kept the city from feeling the effects of the thin air outside. A faint hum of the motors that kept the city afloat mixed with the rustling of the trees in the artificial breeze. Rollan imagined that they ran the motors on a mixture of magic and mechanical energy— or did he imagine it? Such things were becoming commonplace for Rollan. He had never felt so muddled.
With the air of a perfect utopia, the city was a mix of carved stonework and greenery. The raised walkways gave the illusion that the canopies of the trees were mere bushes. Rollan was in awe as he was led through. Every tree bore some sort of fruit. Vined vegetables curled up trees and lattice work. Everything had a purpose.

Rollan's changes from a hovel to a 1-bed apartment, to a room in a tower where he's a prisoner, then a different tower where he is still a prisoner, to a decked out residential floor of a high rise. Kellem is easy. He lives in his mom's old house, with Cassium as a roommate. #AwesomeCharacters

Alright #LitHodgepodge help me out... For those who write sequels/series/prequels/etc. How do you vary your descriptions of people/places/etc between books so it isn't verbatim, but similar enough? Do you keep track of these descriptions in a separate doc or look it up in the original?

The twitch on Scourge’s face was enough. He couldn’t refuse and couldn’t accept. Both would mean crippling his influence in the lower city. “It is your choice,” Ferris warned as the silence carried on. “You will have to weigh how much Hendlesen wants Rollan over how much he wants the Gerents silenced.”
Spitting, Scourge turned away to converse with one of the guards nearby. The conversation wasn’t going well. From the bits that Ferris picked up, Scourge was in worse shape than he had guessed. If he didn’t bring Rollan in alive, he risked losing not only his influence but his life. It wasn’t then Hendlesen’s orders. Titus knew Rollan was here. They were out of time. With a long sigh, Scourge nodded and turned back. “You have a deal, Vamp.”

Oh the irony. Rollan and friends had an interesting encounter with a tree. He had the witches use their electric magic to eventually heat the tree to the point of setting it ablaze. If he had to do it alone, he would most likely be injured in the process by doing something reckless. #Octember

I would say Alex. 🥇 He is viewed as a kid (he's 19) to the point that he flies under the radar at times. He is also blind on his left side, so people underestimate his abilities in a fight. Out of all of Rollan’s followers, Titus hates Alex the most because he is "semi-feral." #AwesomeCharacters
