E-bike/scooter ridership is booming in D.C. — up 50% in the first half of 2026.
Micromobility ridership in D.C. continues to grow. Line chart titled "Micromobility ridership in D.C. continues to grow," subtitled "Total number of miles ridden on e-bikes and e-scooters operated by Lime, Veo and Hopp." The x-axis spans 2020 to 2026, the y-axis spans 0 to 6 million miles. The line shows an overall upward trend with seasonal peaks and dips: a small bump in 2019-2020, a modest rise through 2021-2023 with repeating seasonal cycles reaching about 2-3 million miles at each peak, then a sharper climb starting in 2024, peaking near 6 million miles in mid-2025, dipping to about 2.7 million in early 2026, and spiking to just over 7 million miles by mid-2026. A text annotation with an arrow points to the final peak, reading "D.C. riders went more than 7 million miles on e-bikes and e-scooters between April and June this year." Chart credit: Alyssa Fowers. From @notus.com on X: "The Star launches in June with dramatically expanded coverage of Washington politics and policy — and new coverage of D.C. itself. The District isn’t just the place where politics happens. It’s home to the people who pull the levers of power."

Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, a top D.C. critic...
Tim Burchett: "The most Washington DC thing ever? Our van we take to baseball was stolen. Correction it was 'borrowed' by another Member." Jacob Rubashkin: "Burchett is right: the most DC thing ever 'is' a member of Congress blaming the city for something he and his colleagues did themselves."
