My #WalktheWorld #MR app died mid 2025 when Microsoft decommissioned the Bing Elevation API. Found a way to revive it using different APIs - leaner & faster. Walk the World 6.0.2.0 landed in Microsoft Store again yesterday, HoloLens 2 1st. More platforms coming. apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p6sv...

This is an amazing archival montage documenting AR culture of HoloLens 1 & 2. Michael Hoffman says, "On the Microsoft HoloLens team, I had this idea to tell the HoloLens story in photos, so started collecting every image I could find, over 1,600." Lots of history here! picmotif.com/u/hoff/tribu...

A composite image of the HoloLens 1 on top facing right and HoloLens 2 on the bottom facing left made out of 1,600 public images. Creator Michael Hoffman says, "On the Microsoft HoloLens team, I had this idea to tell the HoloLens story in photos, so started collecting every image I could find, over 1,600."

I hope you are right . Nearly every Summit played havoc on my digestive tract, once I was very sick for three weeks 😁

Recently the MetaLense 2 came to my attention. This is a fully-fledged Mixed Reality device from P&C Solution in Seoul. It seems to be getting fair use in Korea, but is nearly unknown elsewhere localjoost.github.io/Playing-arou.... Iwrote down my experiences and how it compares to the HoloLens 2.

Playing around with the P&C MetaLense 2 - a Mixed Reality device from Korea

Long before the announced EOL of HoloLens 2, I was on the lookout for alternative devices. The writing was on the wall after January 2023, when a lot of the staff involved was laid off and Microsoft s...

nice, they have the color of forgot-me-nots but these are differently shaped. Is the color true to life? Just asking, as some hues of purple turn up blueish on camera. Any idea what they are?

Not quite the frequent flyer but I found it okay. Quite a long walk from the International terminal to customs but after a 11 hrs flight I could do with some leg stretching. Customs were very nice and efficient. Very nice food in International terminal when I flew home a week later

Why are people who give the harshest unfiltered honest feedback get almost invariably extremely pissed off at even the slightest critique themselves?

I have no idea why my repeater stopped being seen. Possibly because it had a single link to the outside that disappeared. Local users see it though

And when you finally found it, you realize with growing dismay that the thing you had in your hands when you started searching is *now* missing, because you had to lay it *somewhere* while you wear rummaging for the item you were originally looking. Rinse and repeat until you are a gibbering idiot

TIL you should not short circuit a Aqara T1 no neutral switch, when you plan to use them more than once. Fortunately the fuse box in the utility closet prevented worse than mere fried electronics. And I did it twice.🤦€50 down the drain. I wasn't fully awake apparently. This is not my day.

Someone once said that if David Bowie would die, the world would fall apart. Quite prescient and pretty much spot on, I would venture to say, 10 years after the fact.

Was wrestling with my mum in the swimming pool, broke loose and banged headfirst into the side, broke upper front tooth. 40 years later the crown needed to be replaced. Christmas dinner with missing front tooth us not fun. Eating in general isn't

#Unity moves fast and break things, in this case my #MRTK3 demo on #Apple #VisionPro on slightly higher versions - as happens often. I spent some (okay, a bit too much) time on trying to find out why, and came up with a solution making the app run again localjoost.github.io/MRTK3-apps-o...
