Ling Ling @lltai.me · 03/04/2025I loved moderating the opening panel at the International Council of Psychologists Annual Conference in Rotterdam! We explored psychology’s role in migration, human rights, and social inclusion with esteemed psychologists from the Bahamas, UK, and US. Excited for the rest of the conference! #phd 040 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 19/03/2025Did you know? Albert Einstein, born on March 14, 1879, wasn’t just a genius—he was also a refugee. His journey wasn’t just about revolutionising physics, but also about seeking safety and freedom. 140 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 05/03/2025Spring is coming! I'm taking a short break from systematic review, to enjoy this lovely view from @zpid.bsky.social. Sunny, clear blue skies and below 10C. #phdlife 050 0

Ling Ling @lltai.me · 13/01/2025After 12 years of loyal service, I'm finally saying goodbye to my trusty 2013 mbp. I'll be sending it off to recycling soon. Will I live to see a day when laptops become sustainable and repairable? #climateanxiety #wishcycling 010 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 12/01/2025I couldn’t find umeboshi for my onigiri, so I used Singlong’s Sour Plum instead. Big mistake. What I got? Mini rice sour bombs. Lesson learned. #vegan #vegan 030 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 09/01/2025After months of refining my focus group guide and tackling ethics, I finally got the green light.🚦 Now, it's full speed ahead with recruitment! Yesterday, I presented my study to #refugee teachers. The result? About a third signed up. Tough, but that's the #phdlife. 😅 Upwards and onwards! ☝️ 030 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 05/01/2025I'm so happy the different ethnic groups of Myanmar celebrated New Years together. And to be invited to join the celebration is a privilege indeed. 🎉🥰 #refugee 140 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 16/12/2024Back from the retreat! I had the privilege of serving as a cook for the 10-day meditation course in Dhamma Malaya. One of the highlights? Using this massive "mixing" machine to whip up Malaysian-style fried mee hoon for 130 people. I even received some yummy reviews. 😋 #veganfood #vipassana 271 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 01/12/2024The part about oat milk latte dependency and data cleaning vs writting is spot on. A little too much... ☕ #phdlife blueskyroast.com/roast/lingli... 130 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 30/11/2024My friends dropped me off at the airport. We hugged farewell. We've known each other for over a decade. Saying goodbye gets harder with each passing year. Life is a collection of memories - fill them with love, light, and laughter.✨ Till the next time, kapkunka #thailand. 🙏 000 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 30/11/2024In Phuket, we stopped by a food outlet for brunch and souvenirs. I had pad thai, prolly the last authentic one that I'll enjoy in a long while. #thailand 100 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 30/11/2024Day 6: Koh Yao Yai to Kuala Lumpur We left for Chong Lard Pier in the morning to catch the morning speed boat. It was cloudy with a gentle breeze, thankfully not raining. My friends told me to stay silent, coz they bought a "local" ticket for me. #thailand #roadtrip 130 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024I'm super glad we decided to stay another day to chill at the villa. A short short break from being on the road/sea. Then I was reminded of the sign I saw at the Gypsy Bar the night before... Life is like a road trip. Enjoy each day Don't carry too much baggage. #thailand #kohyaoyai 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024We dropped a couple of places for food. A local thai muslim restaurant for lunch and a dessert shop. I had black glutinous rice, green beans, taro with coconut milk. #thailand #kohyaoyai #roadtrip 100 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024Day 5: Koh Yao Yai We initially planned to return to Phuket. With my friend feeling unwell, and the gloomy weather, we decided to stay another day. I worked on my paper the all day on the villa's porch with the stunning view of the sea. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024My friends organised a birthday dinner on the beach. What a way to end the day, delicious Thai food and sunset. 🏖️🌅 #thailand #roadtrip 020 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024As we waited for dinner at Gypsy Bar, we visited a buffalo family nearby. 15 buffalos altogether, one mother buffalo looked pregnant. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024It was overcast almost all day. Thankfully, it didn't rain. So, we headed to Yao Yai Beach for an afternoon massage, a small hut next to the Gypsy Beach Bar. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024For lunch, we headed to Ao Muong Beach, accessible by a small dirt path. There is a small beach bar, run by a local lady. She said the beach attracts more foreign visitors, but they don't support her small business. I had pineapple fried rice and a coconut. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024Before ending our walk, we stopped by a local roti shop for a quick breakfast. I got a banana roti with condensed milk. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024We stopped by a small village house, which turned out to be the BaBin kitchen. BaBin is small chewy dessert made of glutinous rice and coconut, also known as coconut macaron. Its a Koh Yao Yai specialty. It seems they only make BaBin for export. Super yummy! #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024We continued our morning walk through the small village. Plenty of greenery everywhere! My local guide said that Koh Yao Yai started having cement roads and electricity as recent as 20 years ago. #thailand #roadtrip 120 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024At the end of the forest trail, we arrived at Loh Jak Pier. This pier doesn't receive tourists. Rather, boats departing from this pier transport food to the surrounding islands. #thailand #kohyaoyai #roadtrip 000 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 29/11/2024Day 4: Koh Yao Yai In the morning, we hiked through a small forest trail and came across cages made of wire mesh and tree branches. The local fishermen use these cages as fish traps. #thailand #roadtrip 230 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 28/11/2024We arrived at the northern pier of Koh Yao Yai, Klong Hia Pier. We drove 40min through the island on cement and dirt roads in a 4WD till we reached our isolated villa in the middle of the jungle. We reached our destination at last! #thailand #roadtrip 010 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 27/11/2024After wishing our farewells to Sandy, we took a relaxing 2-hour drive to Bang Rong Pier in Phuket, followed by a 45min speed boat ride to Koh Yao Yai. #thailand #roadtrip 100 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 27/11/2024After lunch, we said hello to Sandy, a 65 year old lady elephant at the Khao Lak Elephant Care Home. She's super gentle and sweet. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0

Ling Ling @lltai.me · 26/11/2024Day 3: Khao Lak to Koh Yao Yai After two long days of driving, we took it easy this morning. Breakfast buffet at the B&B. Ling Ling @lltai.me · 26/11/2024As night fell, we drove through the Khao Sok National Park. On dark and windy roads, silhoutte of misty mountains accompanied us till we arrived in Takuapa for a thai chinese dinner, at Hokki Lou. We checked into our B&B in Khao Lak, close to 9pm. It was a long ride indeed. #thailand #roadtrip 010 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 26/11/2024We stopped at a rest area and picked up some dried pad thai noodles with pre-mixed sauce. Food gifts for family in Malaysia. As we drove to Khao Lak, it continued to rain. #thailand #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 25/11/2024We stopped for coffee at Suan Nin Khaw, a fruit farm who also grows, harvests and roasts their own (robusta) coffee. Farm-to-coffee. I ordered an oat milk latte to-go. They serve coffee flower tea for free. #thailand #roadtrip #chomphun 100 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 25/11/2024It was a long drive today, about 7 hours including stops for breaks. It made sense to keep driving, cause it rained all day. At one stop, I tried ice thai milk tea. The Southern Thailand style has stronger tea flavour. #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 25/11/2024For lunch, we stopped by a local restaurant along the highway. The salad "bouquet" is common in Southern Thailand cuisine, a mix of edible flowers, herbs and leafy vegetables. Ours had curry leaves, kaffir lime, butterfly pea, pink peppercorn, etc. Also, the pretty tri-colour rice. #roadtrip 110 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 25/11/2024Day 2: From Ban Krut to Khao Lak "Winter" in Thailand means more rainy days than usual. It was overcast this morning on Ban Krut beach. We were fortunate to visit the temple on Thong Chai hill before the all-day downpour started. #thailand #roadtrip 120 0
Ling Ling @lltai.me · 24/11/2024Ended the day with a pizza dinner by the beach, a short walk at the night market, and bought mini buns for tomorrow's trip. A very productivelty food-full day! 🥳 #bankrut #thailand #roadtrip 000 0

Ling Ling @lltai.me · 24/11/2024We delivered food gifts and visited my friend's relatives' farm. We were offered tasty fried sweet potatoes and preseved tamarind. Both are grown on their farm. #thailand #roadtrip 100 0
