If it has an engine and it moves I like it. Amateur photographer I guess. Trying to learn how to make a racing game.

It's especially bad if the 2 people are on the other sides of the planet and are listening to a song in a call, so the ping makes the singer-along like half a second off to the person listening

Self-driving cars would also functionally be just extremely expensive and slow busses. Busses are very efficient at moving people around, *when not obstructed by cars*.

Tesla self-driving for example is entirely trained on US driving habits aka "I merge now, good luck everyone else". To add to that, the whole system is just going to be outsourced to a private company that will sell your data.

-operating a machine that weighs a ton or two and can accelerate to insane speeds, especially EVs are crazy with their acceleration. New cars have so many intrusive driving "assists" that driving them can be absolutely unbearable. A machine can only be created to deal with specific situations.

First of all a machine should not be in a position where it can decide the life of a person. Second the issue is not people in general but the negligence of people, "oh it's just 30 km/h I'm fine" meanwhile 30 km/h is 8 meters per second. A driver's license should be hard to earn, you're operating-

Well what is "progressive" and "conservative" entirely depends on what was already there to conserve and what isn't there that you could progress to.

llamant @llamant.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Yeah this is all over culture unfortunately. You need to know a lot about something to be able to say "this is a thing". You don't need that to know that 10 things is more than 1. Quality is extremely hard to quantify.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm talking about dictating the exact price on something like butter. Regulating prices is fine.

Notably there was a recent flood due to a shoddily repaired dam. Flooded a city, pictures look absolutely apocalyptic and officials are saying only about 30 people died which is hard to believe.

Yeah economically China's doing pretty well but none of that wealth goes to the people. There is also a lot of nepotism and corruption there, especially in construction. Many buildings and pieces of infrastructure have already collapsed and killed people due to extreme cost cutting, aka tofu dreg.

You need to have people micromanaging every step, which is extremely slow, instead of the regulated capitalism idea of letting people do their thing but stepping in when things go wrong.

llamant @llamant.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Basically, the government has the final say on things you should be able to just *do*. Also planned economies seriously mess with vendors. The price is forced too low - it's not profitable to produce. The prices is too high - too few buy the product.

My main issue with communism is that in my understanding it means the government having the power to, as well as having to, micromanage everything like a person buying a car or housing. In the USSR the waiting times for the cheapest cars were years when the US had good cars and housing for everyone.

On soviet communism - maybe, very speculative. But Cuba has the least internet connection to be able to complain about it or even have a proper frame of reference. People share files with USB drives for the lack of better options there.

I live in a post-soviet country and I don't know any alternatives to capitalism other than soviet and chinese communism which was and is absolutely terrible. Are there other alternatives?

It is the job of governments to regulate the treatment of people by corporations. But corporations managed to buy the politicians and now corporations get to reign free. The only thing different under communism, or my understanding of it, would be that the corporation would be nationalized.

llamant @llamant.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
As much as I don't like how things are going I don't think the issue is capitalism itself. I think the issue are shitty people at the top, and as long as it's the shitty people that are at the top it doesn't matter whether it's capitalism or communism.

GODDESS OF RAINBOWS, MESSENGER OF THE GODS!
Digital painting of a Black person with an afro and wearing 70s style clothing. A bunch of rainbow, small fairy-like creatures sit on her shoulder. Black text around the border reads: "I'm gonna live forever! People will see me and cry..." Big yellow text at the top reads: "Iris..." and text under the fairies reads: "Weren't you a god?"

If you know where to look there's thousands of hours of brilliant game design, visual, audial art and writing you can experience without even a dedicated GPU at all.

My PC would probably cost about 500-600 dollars for me today, and it's a very cost-inefficient setup. A 2GB GPU from the last decade can run most games worth running. I feel like if 2GB is not enough to run a game on acceptable settings, something, somewhere is wrong.

Dev update! The city block out is starting to feel and look more like a city! Adding basic elements like windows and canopy's on buildings, benches, bins, barriers and trash in the streets. Props also add 'life' to the level too, players can interact with them and they respond dynamically.
