I still don’t spend much time on Threads because I’m not a fan of the vibe, but I cannot deny they have some juice over there.
A threads thread in which a dude challenges Alan Ritchson to a fight, with many qualifiers. Ritchson accepts.

The start of the interview transcript, just after they asked to confirm that I was there to ask them for streaming media recommendations...
[Liz]: You are correct. That is what I'm here. But actually I'll happily talk about the show first for a little bit, if that's all right.
[Alex Horne]: Whatever you want, whatever you'd like.
[Liz]: Thank you. I appreciate that.
[Greg Davies]: No restrictions. That's our policy.
[Alex Horne]: And it always has been.
[Liz]: Yes. You have never had any rules in any situation.
[Greg Davies]: No rules.
[Liz]: Total chaos.

From the RT review blurbs for Ben Affleck's ANIMALS: A British person describes the L.A. River.
A 2 star review from The Daily Telegraph:

"The script only gets more daft, inventing sketchy revenge motives for the villains, and requiring some truly idiotic behaviour when it gets to the hostage hand-over, which takes place in the giant storm drains seen in Terminator 2."

Oh wow, it's the 10-year anniversary of the time I went to Snoop Dogg's compound and interviewed him about the show MARY+JANE and got a literal contact high equivalent to a toke on the joint he did offer me at the start of the interview. (I declined the toke, but it made literally no difference.)

After Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson obtained a distribution deal with Jive Records, he signed her to his label Blackground Records when she was 12 years old.[1][2] He introduced her to R. Kelly, who became her mentor, as well as the sole producer for her debut studio album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number (1994).

As an early celebration of STAR TREK's 60th anniversary (and also because I wanted to be able to link to this quote in tomorrow's Stream On), here's a look back at the carefree innocent days of 2017, when Jason Isaacs told me why he doesn't care for tribbles.
Among Captain Lorca's quirks is the fact that has a pet tribble on his desk - though Isaacs was not personally too excited about the iconic and adorable "Trek" creature.

"I wasn't a fan of the silliest episodes of the original series, just because Shatner, particularly - well both of them, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy - managed to make the most absurd things seem epic, and serious, and high stakes," he said. "But even they, with their gargantuan skill set, couldn't make a bunch of merkins into something that felt dangerous."

(This statement made IndieWire laugh pretty hard, even though Isaacs was worried people might not know what a merkin is, suggesting that we "might put a hyperlink in.")

Tomorrow is pub day for How to Build a #RobotBoyfriend! And with everything set for the launch, I wanted to share the author's note, which offers some context/history on this project, along with a pledge that matters more than ever right now. Pre-orders still open! www.amazon.com/dp/B0HFKPGFJ5
Screenshot of text:

Author's Note

I began writing How to Build a (Robot) Boyfriend in
December 2013, and completed the first draft about a year later, followed by a second draft in 2015. I began revising it once more in 2021, before putting it in the metaphorical drawer in early 2022.

I mention this because it feels important to know
that this book was originally conceived and written well before the advent of AGI, LLM, and all the other potentially dystopian technologies that have become a constant talking point in recent years. While I've updated key details of the story—which had always been set in a nebulous near-future—to make it work for this brave new world of ours, it's still based in an outlook on artificial intelligence that's far more optimistic and positive than many people feel right now. (Including myself, if I'm going to be honest.)At the end of this humble novel, you'll find a much
longer afterward about this project, but I wanted to mention that bit up front. Also, in case it needs saying: Absolutely zero AGI was used in the creation, editing, production, and promotion of this book.
Thank you so much for being here, and for reading.

oh thank god I wasn't the only one
In the series, per the official description from HBO Max, “A superintelligent ape is convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. In an eight-part ‘true’ crime docuseries, the Daily Planet’s Jimmy Olsen reopens the case, investigating whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one of Metropolis’ most famous murder trials.”

This is not Tatro’s first time in a fake true crime series, as the one-time YouTuber broke out as an actor in the acclaimed Netflix comedy Who Drew the Dicks? American Vandal. Also reprising their Superman roles are Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Wendell Pierce, along with new cast members Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz.

So I had still been subscribed to Warren Ellis's newsletter until just this last Sunday, and since @azalben.bsky.social and others were talking about it I thought I'd share his comment from the most recent issue (my last as a subscriber) about, well, stuff...
A few people have asked me about past events in my life. It’s not my place to pick at it in public or speak for others. I will say that I got to apologise directly to a group of people and offer amends, which I remain very grateful for, and I keep that door open. I learned a lot and still am. I fucked up in a number of ways over the years, it doesn’t matter that I never acted with malice in mind, I hurt people, I’m sorry, and I’m trying to do better every day. That’s all I have to say for now.

So I think I undersold my interview with Chris Carter about his #XFiles: I Want to Believe director's cut. Please enjoy the section that multiple readers have quoted back to me with exclamation points. consequence.net/2026/08/x-fi...
I Want to Believe features the now-retired FBI agents getting dragged back into one more case, involving a mad scientist with an interest in transplanting heads in the quest for immortality. In terms of justifying the decision to cut scenes and even lines focused on the relationship between his two lead characters, Carter said that Seasons 10 and 11 of the show, revived in the 2010s, gave X-Files fans “their fill of Mulder and Scully and their relationship. Scully reveals she’s pregnant at the end of Season 11, so you know they’re sleeping together, so that doesn’t need to be any great shocker in the movie.”

In Seasons 10 and 11, Mulder and Scully are depicted as living independently from each other, with exactly one confirmed sexual encounter over the course of 16 episodes (included seemingly to set up that pregnancy reveal). But that appears to be the level of romance that Carter feels is true to the core of the series.

“I always felt that the studio didn’t really know The X-Files very well when they greenlit this movie originally,” he says. “They forced us to put that romantic element in there, when it took away from the good X-Files story. In this cut, I simply wanted to take the weight off of the one thing and put it on the darker story.”
