Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 18/03/2025Everything that's not Italian in my DNA results is from Marge's side of the family--Scott, English, German, Irish. 000
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 17/03/2025Every St Patrick's Day I think about how my whole life I was told that I'm 50% Italian, 50% Irish, but never felt Irish. Then DNA results started explaining a few things . . . (on the nasture side, at least. Nurture is a whole other force) 161
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 05/03/2025Everyone's in a ditch in my first-case scenario playbook. But no: they're not. 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 05/03/2025Omg, that's perfect! In our house, the orange Maine coon is the is goofy one who's halfway on the couch, or between the cushions, or something other doofy thing. 120
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 02/03/2025What's the pitch? (You can DM or text or email it to me if you want) 100
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 01/03/2025Writers: is your website written in first person, or third person? Right now mine goes back-and-forth, but I figure it should be consistent. Can't decide which one is better, both have pros and cons. #writingcommunity #writers 260
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 01/03/2025There's too much in this world that tries to diminish our value, our strength, our goodness. Someone subtweeting or vague booking or whatever doesn't deserve space in your head and your heart. 041
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 01/03/2025I have to remind myself of this often and it may be helpful to someone else: If you follow someone on socials whose posts make you doubt your goodness, or make you anxious, or make you sad, you can unfollow them. If community relationships make that awkward, it's ok to mute them. 161
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 28/02/2025I've been trying to respond to this, and the only things I have to say are agree with you about how horrible everything is, instead of helping you feel better 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 27/02/2025I so agree! I want both--reading and conversation. It's a rare audience member who can sustain interest in a reading for much longer than 10 minutes (what do the studies say, you lose most people after 12?). I like to do a video or PowerPoint that relates t the text too. 120

Also, fascists hate books, especially those written by people like me. So books, motherfucker. ALL THE BOOKS.” 24593118
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 25/02/2025You're right, it is what media was like (I say as rack my brain for examples that aren't any of the things you mentioned). I guess that's a good conversation to have--hey, look what was considered ok back then. The 80s were even worse. 😳 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 25/02/2025There's one scene in particular with Jordan . . . I think you'll know it when you see it. But I still adore this show to no end, and will never get over its premature cancellation. 010
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 25/02/2025The cishet dudes on that show do NOT hold up. (I was interviewed about it for a textbook, of all things) 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 25/02/2025I just looked at FB for the first time in ages, and it sent me into an anxiety/shame spiral, sure that everyone who was vaguebooking was talking about me. So, that was a good lesson. 020
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 21/02/2025I'm exhausted and can't ever seem to recover. I'm out of two regular supplements, so that's part of it. I keep wondering what's wrong with me, and then remember that this is what happens when you have chronic fatigue syndrome. This is "normal." #CFS #ME #chronicfatigue #invisibledisability 1160
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 21/02/2025A friend was just telling me that he sends notes of thanks to people for doing things like speaking up in a meeting about something important, or sharing something vulnerable about themselves on social media that helps further the conversation, and I thought, There, the little acts of humanity. 120
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 21/02/2025I suggest Gigi Little. She designs all the covers for Forest Avenue Press, and also does freelance. And she's designed cover for ND authors. www.gigilittle.comgigilittle.comGigi LittleGigi Little is a writer and graphic designer specializing in book cover design. 330
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 20/02/2025I don't want to stay quiet/just look away. I also don't know what to do. I am open to suggestions. I feel like part of their strategy is to overwhelm us into inaction. 010
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 20/02/2025This is so cool! I've never seen a writing class framed (no pun intended) like this. 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Me: Oh look, someone is talking about pasta on social media! I can give an entire treatise on it, yay!🍝 020
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Also, it's kind of inaccurate to say that sauce gets in the hole. It's a really narrow opening, so it would be hard for sauce to run all the way through a long strand. It's more about how it cooks up. 120
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 20/02/2025You either got a bad batch, or they're using a misnomer for what bucatini is 010
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Is it pasta you bought, or pasta you made? It's true that real bucatini is hallow. It's needs to be a dried pasta, not fresh. 210
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Even people who *think* they understand the brief miss or mishandle things. They don't know what they don't know. A sensitivity read is almost always a good idea. 130
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 19/02/2025I used to submit to lit mags all the time, and so the rejections didn't hit me as hard. They truly felt like part of the game. But now that I don't do it quite as often they seem to have more sting to them. 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Yes, I believe 1000% in this strategy. Taking care of each other is not insignificant. 110
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 19/02/2025I hate them so much, and am always pulling them off, so our entire house is littered with my socks: a clause in the divorce proceedings. 020
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Yesterday I subscribed to a friend's Substack, and it automatically subscribed me to a bunch of other Substacks, even though I was pretty sure I hit the "skip this" part, and now I'm unsubscribing from Substacks that I just subscribed to and it makes me look like kind of an asshole 030
Liz Prato @lizprato.bsky.social · 17/02/2025We need more content like this! If I wanted door and gloom I'd read the news. 110
