Start of term and my son has kindly shared his cold with me. I'm wiped out but fortunately other than being a bit snotty he's fine

Solo gigging tonight to see the Slackers. The friend that was going can no longer make it. If it was in Nottingham I'd be more confident I'd know folk there but Derby can be different

The kid's party my son attended today had a really sort of traditional magician, I suspect some of his props may have been older than me. There was even an actual rabbit

Neighbours are having some work done in the garden and they're blasting out Panic at the Disco, and singing along!

My social media feed outside of friends (artists, bands, small businesses) seem to be so much content about making content to feed the algorithm. I appreciate the need, but dislike the fact it must be done (as I'm sure they do). I just want regular content

Another good evening for bat watching. Followed on nicely from a thing at work today talking about an international projet

Our son has asked to have a birthday party this year, we had previously done days out and made a fuss with family. I was rather anxious about the whole thing but within a morning of sending out invites he's already had nearly half the class say yes to coming.

MPF have shared a short clip and I realised I was quite visible in it, my first thought was eurgh not flattering singing along and general flailing. But then I did shift my thinking to how happy I was in that moment, shouting along badadababababaa and watching a band I've loved for over two decades

I've just attended an informal coffee and chat session at work about eco anxiety. I now feel all of the things, grief, anger but also hope included. Considering both sides with building bridges but also being the thorn in the side of those who may wish we'd go away.

I'm getting increasingly irritated by adverts for collagen (because of course I get adverts for this as woman in her 40s) - how dare you show signs of aging, why isn't your skin bouncy, you have crepe neck (?!), KNEES, we can fix it if you buy our boiled animal carcass

I am very glad my son is back to school tomorrow, we all need the routine back, and not needing to sort childcare when working. Very grateful to family and friends that there were only 2 mornings of 3 hours where he had to entertain himself while I worked

Last minute decision to actually go to the King Prawn gig tonight, messages from 2 friends and then a cheaper ticket appeared

No Comply being back for MPF is very exciting, at the weekend I coincidentally found the last gig shirt with a few other old band t-shirts that will never fit me these days as got some stuff from my parents loft

I think I've got to the point where I no longer have too many courgettes - have given a few post holiday beasts away and now just 2 regular sized ones in the fridge

Big local news - after asking for suggestions from the public and making it out to be a big naming thing the new bridge name is West Park Bridge because it goes to West Park, so imaginative!

Attending a wedding at the weekend, realised I've not worked out what I'm wearing, tempted to go with the dress I've already worn for 2 weddings in the last year because I like it and it is a silly idea that women shouldn't do that

Back to work tomorrow after a lovely week in Cornwall At least I no longer have a bruised face, it came from a headbutt in a pub car park... lunch stop on the drive down helping 1 of the dogs into the car he flailed & my face got in the way! They used to be able to leap but age means need a hand now

There is some sense to the banning of disposable BBQs, although my main experience of usage is on the beach or at a house for those not wanting to use meaty BBQ (and always responsibly disposed of) but it feels like just an absolute joke of a response to the world being on fire

I'm not sure the local flag men really do want to make women safer - they've put a flag pretty right at the top of a lamppost, rather than the normal half mast as they are shorter here, so it is actually going to obscure the light - which is my route from the bus or train at night and already is dim

It appears my son is on the front of the Blackpool Gazette today. I don't tend to post pictures of him publicly, but do allow (if he doesn't mind) events using it. I didn't expect it to be in the newspaper, he's excited by it!

I've taken lead parent role today for Rebellion, my feet ache already so I don't hate being in bed. Did miss a couple of sets today I'd have liked to see, but little one has had a great day - he loves Blackpool and some bands but at 5 the attention span isn't there for everything

Sad to see, always had Raleigh bikes growing up (may have had something to do with family working at the factory)

Looking forward to the fact Blackpool is going to be 10 or so degrees cooler than it has been here lately, I'm not built for the heat

We've been dog sitting for my parents and every so often my son will sigh and say "looking after Woody is hard work" - such a difference between a pair of nearly 11 years old collies and a 1 year old one

Different night out tonight to see Goo at one of my favourite venues (JT Soar), their latest album is so bloody good. New to me were support False Summits who I will definitely be keeping an eye on

Night out to the theatre to see Operation Mincemeat for my partner's birthday - we both really enjoyed it and would recommend. Worth the wait since getting the tickets - his birthday last year!

Have managed to get tickets for Joan Jett next week in Wolverhampton that were pretty much impossible to refuse due to how cheap they were. Sadly I guess that means it hasn't sold well.

I went to see the Cardigans on Saturday, not my usual gig but really enjoyed it. Hadn't been to the Apollo in ages so had completely forgotten about the slanted floor

Eurgh, PTA are deciding to use AI for a poster, as the person that normally prints things I've said I'm not keen to print slop (maybe not quite in those words). Have included I'd throw something together instead but seem to be ignored

Happy to report I now sit in the more middle aged women group at work events, I was 30 when I started so never really felt I was a young person, this is really the coolest group!

Leaving just outside the red zone to spend the next 3 days in it for a work event. Looking forward to meeting folk I've worked with for 10 years but not before seen in real life. Don't feel I'll be at my most professional with this weather. At least I'm not camping like many colleagues.

Today I've been in my job for 10 years, after many jobs that lasted more on the scale months I'm glad I found a home. Many changes with going from 60 to 160 staff, COVID meaning we went to home working and a change of CEO about halfway through this time

Off to Milton Keynes with work today, I think the last (and possibly only) time I was there was for Capdown's "last" gig. Hopefully no damaging ribs on this occasion

I thought all attire as a bridesmaid for wedding on Monday was sorted, I'd bought some shoes, now conversation has gone to back to light up shoes (an original part of the plan) tempted to DIY it to the shoes I have...

6 months ago I had 0 brothers-in-law (brother-in-laws??) as if today I now have 2! Excited for the actual wedding in Monday, but please youngest sister has the legal bit done. I guess that makes me the old spinster sister 😎

I am a little too excited about our new pressure washer. It is so good! I've done all the decking today (never get decking, it was here when we moved in) and I normally do that over 3 days. So cool 😎

I've not done one of these in a little while, 5x5 Friday. Listened to Frank Turner for the first time in ages as went to a Campfire Punkrock anniversary gig, enjoyed it but will now not bother for some years. A few other gigs from the week with Lande Hekt, and No Peeling supporting a different gig.

Looking to do a bit of customisation on some default male band t-shirts, went to look for some videos about sewing them - so many just about how to cut them! Found a good video on re-hemming the arms but necks seem to just get the snip/ignored

Once again trying to attribute my aches, as much as being away at a festival and another gig I think it is all actually gardening, and only 1 of 3 raised beds are cleared (1 doesn't need doing just yet)

So after the Lightyear matinee yesterday our 5 year-old would now like a trombone.

I saw @problempatterns.bsky.social at JT Soar tonight for the first time (and Stupid World) and what a fantastic live band they are. Treated myself to a cap, wondering if I can squeeze in any of their set at MPF - a key reason for going to the gig tonight is due to clashes there!
