Another comic from this past year. Sometimes I'm in awe about how incredibly small birds can be.

'Akiapola'au uses its thick lower beak to strike branches like a woodpecker and then uses its thin curved upper beak to pry the bugs out. Only a small number of these is left on Hawaii Island. Nene is the rarest goose in the world. Hawaii's State bird, they almost went extinct in 1952 with only 30 individuals left. After conservation efforts, populations increased to more than 3K today.
