Finished the job of mapping the electrical wiring today, then stripped the machine from cables and electrical components to make it ready for body work, welding, sand blasting and painting. He looks a bit naked without his electrical components.

My daughter gets to see her favorite locomotive in September 2023. The photo to the right was published in a railway magazine and was the start of an incredible rescue mission. The locomotive is now at the Norwegian Railway Museum and will be restored and preserved.

"New year, new chances and new beginnings!" Granfos sure has gotten a new chance and a new beginning, now being owned by the Norwegian Railway Museum. December 9th this year he set out on his last ever travel. Never again will he face the treath of being scrapped. Happy New Year, everyone!

Granfos ble i dag hentet til Norsk Jernbanemuseum på Hamar etter 22år under en presenning på Lommedalsbanen. Planen er å pusse opp loket og sette det i drift sammen med Urskog i parken. Museets nye kjæledegge fikk en varm velkomst da den ankom Hamar i dag!

People sometimes ask me why I find steam engines so fascinating... 🤔 I think it is because they balance on the fine line between machine and living creature. They feel so alive and have so much personality, there is no wonder they have been anthropomorphized for nearly as long as they have existed.

Meg og Hans. Hans har 60 år på fotbrettet på Setesdalsbanen, 50 av dem som lokfører. Dette var hans siste tur og jeg hadde gleden av å være fyrbøteren hans. Han kommer fortsatt til å hjelpe til og lære opp oss nykommerne, men han vil ikke kjøre mer.

Last day of work at the Norwegian Railway Museum this season and possibly the last time ever I drive Setskogen up there. Setskogen returns home in September. Today's comment from a little boy: "Dad! There is a lady driving the train! Is that legal?" I had a chuckle over that one.
