Star Trek figured this out thirty years ago. It's not hard. Even an old, drunk Klingon got it.

A set of screenshots from DEEP SPACE NINE. An old Klingon throws his arms around Dax and shouts "Curzon, my beloved old friend!"

Dax returns the hug and says "I'm Jadzia now."

The Klingon grabs her shoulders, smiles, and says "Jadzia, my beloved old friend!"

Oh memories... One of the worst days I'd ever had, and I said to myself "At least there's a new WfM episode to distract yourself." This was the episode that aired. #gundam #witchfrommercury In hindsight, I forgot the cardinal rule that "The Gundam and Yuri genres have one constant: P A I N"

Bart Simpson using a remote to freeze-frame the exact moment someone's heart broke. The image below that is from episode 17 of The Witch From Mercury, after the main character's love turned their back on her in a misguided attempt to help her without speaking to her about it.

If you have a good relationship with your dad this #fathersday, be happy. Spare a thought for those who had to live their lives and be their selves in spite of, rather than because of, that presence.

Growing up in North Iowa was just a different kind of vibe. I remember checking out the toy aisle in the local big box store, when I heard someone an aisle over yell at her daughter: "Don't you dare call him 'daddy'! That sumbitch done stole your grandma's dump truck!"

A convergence of BattleTech and Transformers. Completely coincidental; I was just going for a synthwave kind of idea, but... here we are. Just need to get the base and some spots tidied up. #battletech #minipainting #transformerslostlight

A panel from Transformers: Lost Light #1, with the character Drift repainting Rodimus Prime in shades of gray, teal, and purple rather than his usual red, yellow, and orange. Drift is expressing concerns over these choices of color.

Finally finally got around to writing chapter 13 of Sojourners, which honestly combined some of the most difficult conversations for this story. It's a relief to have them typed out finally. archiveofourown.org/works/359780...

Nyao @littlenyao.bsky.social · 05/12/2023

I almost feel betrayed that when I look at my outline for Sojourners (my ongoing MTMTE/LL continuation), it has really bad pacing issues. I guess I've just learned a lot in those last few years to see that it drags horribly in the middle. Of course that means I'm going to have to overhaul it...

I know the first draft of a WIP is bad It's supposed to be bad That's it's job None of that is stopping me thinking about how bad it is while I let it simmer for a while

This WIP desired dark synthwave to feed its growth to a first draft But damn was that some intense writing

It's taken a while to realize that, like my grandpa, the easiest way for me to communicate and connect with others is through stories. It's not that I don't want to communicate in other ways, it's that I find it tougher. In a highly social world, that makes making friends difficult.
