No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I was almost certain he died around the time Tammy did, but instead someone married him. 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Unfortunately canva is now also full of ai maybe we go back to publisher or clip art 110
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 04/10/2026“If you go to a legislator and the first thing they say is, ‘When I was a kid,’ you’re dead. They haven’t been in a library. People need to understand the impact we have, what kind of difference we make, and translate that into funding.” Veronda Pitchford, San Francisco, Calif. Califa Group 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Today I learned that at least a handful of students did not know to “scroll down” to read the full email message 😓. What have we done? (they knew how to scroll, but not that they were expected to scroll to see the rest of the information they needed in the email) 001
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Look, i have been seeking the strawberry rhubarb pie my midwestern friend made for me when I was a teen, and have been seeking a kouign-amann in general. But combined? It would end me. 020
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Needed this reminder today: Fanon wrote that seeking validation from a system designed to marginalize you will break your spirit. I have been working OT+ on projects to serve others and maybe I just need to scale it back no matter how much I like those folks… 110
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 25/09/2026That chancellor line sounds suspiciously like they are now asking the faculty to “move fast and break things” in order to fix a manufactured problem 050
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Ok. So what are we supposed to do with this information? The OP is a congressperson. What are THEY doing about this?! I can’t stop a man in a blacked out SUV. But congress can. 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 18/09/2026“For authors: Is this the moment to cash out? For investors: Is there still enough overlooked value in the backlist to make the bet pay off? And for Hollywood: What happens when literary IP starts trading like an asset class?” That last one isn’t just for hollywood. It’s for all of us. 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 13/09/2026The people here arguing “but ebooks good” seem to be missing the point. Ebooks are only good if you still have access to them. Subscription models mean that ebooks can be rescinded at any time (and they often are). 142
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I’m still wondering what happened to all of the objects in the East Wing - furniture, art, artifacts, manuscripts, books, etc. 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 08/09/2026condolences to us all because we already know the agenda of the next appointee. Meanwhile theyre trying to tear apart Section 106 and IMLS funding. Don’t be surprised when we find the American collections in museums and private holdings around the globe. 110
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 07/09/2026reminds me of me of how Habitat for Humanity used to work. You could help build a house to own if under a certain income and employed, but you needed good credit. which is much more difficult when you’re poor. Not impossible, but the credit requirement excluded a lot of people from getting housing. 1332
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 06/09/2026And I wanted to choose BART because that’s the most natural to me being from the East Bay but where I live now I just call it the train and that wasn’t an option 020
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Mine said closest to Delaware (I’ve never lived on or near the east coast), but in the ‘city matches’ section, the first two cities are spot on cities I have lived in 🤨 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I take it all back. I hate the ads! Why are there ads on a university run citations page?! 100
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Thank you, yes probably part of the problem. It was mostly the interface that was doing me in, but you’re right the delay in updates might have been about the time of the new edition! 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I just took a peek and it has been updated! I’m serious when I say it’s been at least 6 yrs maybe 7 since i’ve visited the website because i couldn’t handle it 🥴. Looks much different now. Might put it back in the syllabus. 220
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Zotero is great, but you still need to know how to properly format citations otherwise you produce an unedited list. Yes, it automates a lot but the user needs to know what to look for. 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Am i the only one who doesn’t like OWL?! I find it confusing to navigate & it often conflicts w/ style guides. I always go to the actual style guides! Granted i haven’t used OWL in years because i got fed up with trying to navigate its terrible 1990s user interface, so maybe it’s better now? 100
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Ditto the archives Last semester student: can we use ai for citations formatting me: why would you? you need to know how to format your citations (i don’t even let them trust the citation maker in the library’s catalog without manual editing, much less ai) 0194
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 01/09/2026*or the ocean, or an uber Either way, do your back ups. 010

No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Listening to a playlist as I grade and having terrible nostalgia & grief for my teen/young adult best friend who succumbed to the harsh reality of the streets & incarceration. He was in/out so much i couldn’t keep up with tracking him down. always hope he’s out there thriving or finally at rest. 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Has anyone tried asking The Professor or Skipper about this? 070
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Jokes on them when they need to drink the pool water, but I guess the upside is they’ll have a built in skate park 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 30/08/2026When he asked “how do you defend this” my mind went to morally how can you defend doing something selfish and foolish like this 😣 but no, he meant hoarding, wastefulness, and guns 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 30/08/2026“Instead of focusing on the money an individual makes through college, we can consider what’s good for society.” higher education≠trade school. There is room for both. We need both. In fact, some people study at university and despite that can still weld, fix cars, put up drywall, repair a roof… 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 29/08/2026I wonder if any uni foundation or sportser has ever thought it might be nice to give a little slice of our millions to the library that support all the students and faculty at the uni. 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 29/08/2026They’re fancy remote control cars with terrible driving habits. Not impressed at all. I’d rather see people invest in public transportation that serves the larger public (and bring back cabs!). 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 29/08/2026This! I’ve seen too many ‘driver errors’ by these things. Jumping lanes, braking for no reason, cutting off other drivers. i’m not at all impressed by these, but I am afraid they’ll eventually kill someone. 020
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 28/08/2026My informal polls with each class last semester were filled with scowly faces and eye rolls about ai. They hate it. 060
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Whatever you do, do not toggle to the Education degree earnings. Or better yet, do. 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 27/08/2026For the same price of a beach cottage you could instead sleep on my couch & answer 13,000 emails half of which are spam inviting you to a conference that doesn’t exist, reminders to complete annual training, and department reminders that the elevator only works on Tuesdays. 010
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 26/08/2026It’s so frustrating to read this. C’mon! is really the only reaction I could have here. 020
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Given the number of cyclists who don’t wear helmets it won’t hurt to remind folks to wear them. Will it save a life in every situation? No, but it will prevent damage in many. Our city is increasing green lanes and bollards to protect cyclists but many still ride w/out helmets which isn’t helping. 1110
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 25/08/2026“Taxes, money, social interactions, all of it.” ALL of it! Everything is geared towards getting married and having babies. Even leisure and fitness. It’s so exhausting (and expensive) 050
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 25/08/2026“More Tesla drivers are bypassing safety features to nap while their cars drive.” I promise you, even when they’re awake they are dangerous. I spend about 4 hours on a straight line highway one day each week and teslas regularly bypass common sense and safety (oh, and jeeps too). 000
No Shelf Control @litink.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Ha! Our rescued brother / sister cats that I persistently called Big Head and Little Head despite them having been given official names by the kid (named after star wars characters of course). 120
