My son used to ask random kids their age and if it matched his, he'd say, "Okay, we can be friends." Done. As a grown up, If I know the person a little bit, I might say, "Chat over Zoom?" and hope it goes somewhere. Wow, that seems lame in comparison. Too bad. I like making friends.

Ah, from the world of porkpie hats and dirty rice, Burke's Dave Robicheaux books are noir detective fiction and literary genius rolled up into a beautiful boudin feast. Highly endorse.

TFW you discover a restaurant called The Dessert Spoon but it's actually The Desert Spoon with no desserts on the menu at all. Similar to when I found a Bake Shop that turned out to fix brakes. Damn my eyes.

What scene makes you emotional no matter how many times you've seen it?
Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump getting emotional.

I forgot to type "-ai" in google search when I asked for the "pH for salvia plants." The answer came back as 6.4 - 7.4. Great, but it was giving me the pH of human saliva and went on to talk about tooth enamel. Can't AI even READ? SHUT IT DOWN.

Thank you. And I'd rather slip on a banana peel than try to write comedy. Good thing we all have our strengths.

I got one. I'm in Texas, btw. It ticked me off so I got off of Bluesky for a few days. When I got back on, it let me right in and hasn't asked again. Ya got me.

Nice! I once pulled into my driveway just as a landscaping service finished mowing and edging my lawn by mistake. I tried to pay but they said, no, enjoy the freebie. I did!

This is a fun first. Words I wrote in an actor's reel. Great job by Joseph Rene and Aaron Ramos who performed the scene (2nd clip, as two almost step-brothers). #scriptsky vimeo.com/1222866500

That makes sense. It's present-day, but my protag also works in an office with a multi-line desk phone, so it's a bit tricky. Still, "her phone" should be clear to mean her cell phone, so that simplifies things. "Mobile" probably crept in because I watch a lot of British shows! Thanks.

Good gravy. My script has "cell," "phone," "cellphone," and "cell phone," with a "company mobile" kicker. Help. What DO we call these things? #scriptsky

Thanks for the info. Just checked mine. I'm in the county the article talks about. How can they say 12% suspended is a "small" percentage? If a candidate were ahead by 12%, if would be a bloodbath.

CDC says there are 3000 US deaths from food-borne illness each year, not 1.2 million. Still a shame, but RFK's number is a worldwide number, so misleading. Measles deaths are preventable with vaccines. His denial of this makes him chief carrier of the disease, IMO.

In a San Antonio TX medical building there's wall art of tiles, each one a different religion's symbol. It haunts me in the best way. I'm atheist, but to me it shows Man's common search for truth and meaning and love.

I stopped buying makeup at the drugstore when they put it under lock and key, and Sephora at Kohl's wants $28 for one eyebrow pencil. Trying to avoid Walmart and Amazon but I don't know, guys...

TFW you watch 95% of a movie but miss the ending, then you get another chance when it replays a couple hours later and you STILL manage to miss the end, and then you finally glue yourself to the chair so you catch it the third time around -- and you wish you hadn't. #scriptsky

Taped to the bookshelf above my desk: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." It's attributed to Aristotle, but it may have been written by a historian writing about him. Either way, it keeps me at the keyboard.

I think I felt a sort of danger watching it. Moth to flame. A lot went over my head but when you think adults have life figured out, seeing all those characters with flaws and issues blew my naive little-kid mind.
