Packed up our desks, the kitchen, the camera cabinet, our recent awards, and of course some nostalgic photos to hang in the new newsroom. We've made a lot of memories in this building, but it's time for the Globe Gazette to head back downtown. 📰🏙️

Last-minute Substack column for this week. Not even the one I was planning to write! 😂 It drops in the morning. Let me know what you think!

March 27 marks a year since my job as local news editor was eliminated. Though my position was reinstated 3 months later, the anniversary still stirs up some pretty tough memories for me. But it also makes me feel ever so grateful to be right where I belong...in the Globe Gazette newsroom. 🙏

I had an interesting run-in this last weekend, and I've got a few things to say. New column drops Tuesday morning!

Might be a fun time to share. On my birthday several years ago, one of the Olympic Park employees in Park City, Utah, gave us special access behind the ski jump barrier. This is what it looks like to the athletes. Pretty intimidating but so cool to see.

My parents often give me hand-canned goods like pickles, tomatoes, salsa, applesauce, and the like. By far, my major vice is canned jalapenos. They hurt SO MUCH, but dang it, they're so delicious. My tummy is mad at me right now. So is the roof of my mouth. #NoRagrets

We just confirmed with the sheriff that five ICE agents checked in with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office this afternoon, but that CGSO staff did not provide agents with any information. We'll be following this story closely, so stay tuned to www.globegazette.com.

I'm convinced the world would be a better place if everyone's day included Christopher Walken dancing his way through at least one room of their house.

Nine years ago today, I lost my best friend Ginger to suicide. We were friends for 15 years. We were supposed to grow into feisty, cool old ladies together and wear big glasses and bright lipstick, sipping on martinis over lunch.🥀 I'm hanging out with friends tonight to celebrate her memory.

Instead of my next column dropping on Tuesday, it will publish Saturday morning. It's an adaptation of a column I wrote just before my late mother's birthday in July. I thought it apt to revisit it on the one-year anniversary of her death. ❤️‍🩹

Every holiday season since she passed 15 years ago, I unpack my dear grandma’s vintage (hideous) peacock lamp as part of my Christmas decor. I have never had room for a tree, other than a small garland one, so the presents go under the buffet. Behold, the regal Christmas Peacock. 🦚🎄

Tonight, I took a steaming, hot shower; jumped into cozy jammies; did a facial treatment; and began drinking wine, so I couldn't go out to grab aurora pics. Here's a shot of my wine glass, lit by my work laptop and a pumpkin candle, though, if you're interested. 🙏
