Overall, even if I wasn’t the first to pioneer and to have hands that foreshorten based off palm position. I’m still happy with how the hand tracking turned out. Also now that I have finally done hand tracking I can finally tell you guys. IT’S NOT WORTH THE PROBABLY HUNDRED(S) OF DOLLARS.

The finger alone uses a 11X17 grid for XY movement alone. And used a lot of glue, clipping. And is able to form a 3D shape with any finger bend (Which had 11 points) A single finger was more intensive than a set of arms and hands from most western references. Making this impractical for my model.

The smoothest hand tracking I’ve seen is actually from a JP vtuber named Kanbutsu Himono. It’s beautifully done. However the most intensive because she clips a finger shadow based off bend and rigged each individual finger as if its a 3d model.

By using a warp derformer that tracks finger bending and palm turning. You’re able to get a hand that looks more natural but foreshortening it. The only people I’ve seen do within the ENVtuber space is in the video below by Burning Inspiration. youtube.com/shorts/aE1zu...

The knuckles of the first hand have foreshortening the second doesn’t.

The most popular guides and a lot of paywalled/free guides for hand tracking mostly use similar techniques. Where the fingers use rotation deformers to bend fingers. This however can create what Bujy calls an ‘uncanny’ effect because the fingers don’t foreshorten.

The knuckles here will always be bend at this shape and angle despite the palm turn.
