They're called cops as a shortened form of "coppers", it was a nod to the fact they were for sale to anyone with the $$ to pay them, that includes people they'd consider criminals if said criminal had been poor.

🌱🌧 ONE WEEK 🌧🌱 Capture the Rain will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD the entire month of February! For the late-diagnosed autistics ♾️, for the queers recovering from deep emotional wounds 🏳️‍🌈, for anybody who needs a little extra reminder: As long as we take care of each other, we will be okay. 🫂

Character art of an interracial gay couple in a tender embrace, while in the background the sun rises over lush verdant plants behind them. Text above them reads "One week until Capture the Rain"

You don't have to take my word for it, check out what early readers have to say about Capture the Rain! I put my whole self into this book all but literally, so it means a lot to me that it resonated with my pre-release readers 🥹❤️🌱🌧

Promo graphic of text in clouds superimposed over a photo of a sunny view of the Atlantic Ocean, open water. The book cover for Capture the Rain by Jules Gillem is on the left, surrounded loosely by text clouds containing reactions from readers that say
"This is one of my favorite tropes and I never see it anywhere!"
"Aaahhhh"
"Axes is so HOT."
"I love this"
"SWOON"
"I'm cackling"
"I need them to be openly in-like/love before I go to bed LOL"

Another book promo graphic with the same design, clouds on a photo of the ocean. The book cover for CTR is on the right, hugged loosely by more reactions in clouds:
"Thought this was gonna say "his dick"" where the word dick has been censored by a cloud imitating the eggplant emoji
Regarding the line "It's about to get bad," the reader response of "Yay!!!!"
"Screaming again!"
"GUTTED."
"Don't do this to me"
"I'm not crying"
"Not me tearing up at work (this is way more interesting)"

Let's meet our point of view protagonist! Glendale Peterson would describe himself as a "pretty regular-degular guy." But a shitty year, bad breakup, crosscountry move, AND a zombie apocalypse is a lot for anybody to handle. #queerbooks #queerlit #julesgillemauthor #julesgillem

Digital art portrait of a young fat white man with brown eyes and hair and a large facial scar over his whole left cheek. His hair is shaved in an undercut, and his bangs stick up in the front. He wears a serious, neutral expression and a blue environmental cleanup day t-shirt. Palm trees are sketched in behind him, and there is a bright blue frame around the image that reads "POV Protagonist Glendale Peterson"

I was very lucky to sensitivity read Capture the Rain by Jules Gillem. I did not expect to love it so much. Books that capture (yeah, I know) me this deeply are a very rare ocurence. In fact, I can count them on one hand. This was wonderful though and spoke to me deeply. #arcreview #mmromance

I have a lot of promo that hasn't made it here to this platform so head to insta for more, but I can't go any longer without ensuring the most perfect man ever is on the timeline 🏳️‍🌈♾️🌱🌧 Marcelo has been through a LOT by the time he meets Glendale. Together they breathe a little easier, rest better.

Digital art of Marcelo Gonsalvez from Capture the Rain, an Afro-Latine young man with dark skin, bright and attentive brown eyes, and long curly dark hair swept back off his forehead and pulled into a low ponytail. He wears a hideously chartreuse green flannel shirt over a faded grey tee shirt. The black background behind him is decorated with scattered electrical wiring notes, formulas, and symbols used for labeling electrical plans.

We have an aphorism about it because we know every book gets judged by its cover. If your book has an ai cover I’m judging the contents to be the work of a hack and a fraud who can’t be bothered to cough up a few hundred bucks to make themselves look competent.
