Quisiera decir que traducir no tiene nada de aesthetic, ni nada de liviano. Traducir duele, cuesta, cansa. Traducir es desgarrarse la cabeza por un puñado de eurekas. Traducir es reventarse durante horas sin llegar a nada, es darse contra mil paredes para encontrar la puerta. Cansa, cuesta, duele.

"Silver & Iron: Part Four, by Landeg." A candle sits on a tray of surgical instruments casting a green light. Clemence Lovell, wearing a lab coat over his clothes, looms over the dead body of a woman lying on an autopsy slab. The woman is white, freckled, has curly hair and round cheeks; mostly covered by a sheet, but with a hint of autopsy scars. On her chest lies a charm bracelet that includes a butterfly charm. Clemence looks indifferent. In one hand he has a clipboard, with the other he holds a wand-like object out over the woman's body. Inter-cut panels show a simple voice memo recorder and a small cauldron bubbling over a Bunsen burner. The cauldron is loosing green fumes that fill the space. Clemence: "I seek the audience of Mrs. Claire Jones, wife of Frederick Jones, mother of Heliotrope Jones, tethered to this world by blood and gold. I offer the favours of our moon and our soil. I beg only answers. A truth for a truth, so split the tongue from my lips."

Clemence snaps the "wand" - a twig, grown around two gemstones at one end - and says, "if this pleases you, guide Mrs. Jones to my light. The favour is spent." The moment he snaps it is the moment the woman's body gasps and opens its eyes, but otherwise stays still. Clemence consults his clipboard, unfazed. "Are you able to speak?" Mrs. Jones, eyes wide and unseeing, in an unnatural text: "Yes. Where am I?" Clemence: "In a morgue in the basement of our house. Did you see what happened to your daughter on the night you died?" He discards the broken twig. Mrs. Jones: "A creature… dragged her away… is Fred hurt?" Clemence: "He's dead. Did you see what happened to her after that?" Mrs. Jones: "We followed… the creature… startled… threw her aside… and came for us… is Heliotrope dead?"

Clemence: "We don't know. Did you see her move at all before you died?" Mrs. Jones: "No. Where is my daughter?" Clemence: "We don't know. Did anything or anyone take her?" Mrs. Jones: "Where is my daughter?" Clemence: "We don't know. Mrs. Jones, did you see anyone- or anything- take her before you died?" Mrs. Jones, starting to interrupt him: "Where is my daughter?" Clemence: "Mrs. Jo-" "Where is my daughter?" She repeats "where is my daughter" over and over as Clemence sighs, tossing the clipboard aside. Clemence: "Can't they at least throw in a fucking adjudicator?" He leans over the candle. "Thank you for the audience. Our party withdraws." As he blows the candle out Mrs. Jones falls silent. In the darkness it becomes apparent she is but a corpse. Maddoc Lovell unceremoniously flicks on the harsh overhead lights, illuminating himself, as he eats an apple, and Clemence, who looks annoyed. They are in a sterile laboratory environment. Taped to the wall is a child's drawing of a figure who resembles Clemence, smiling and holding a bloody saw, next to a child figure in a black dress and trench coat holding a scalpel and fairy wand. Maddoc, blithely: "That shit gives me the willies every time." Clemence: "I told you not to stay. Just like I told you this wouldn't achieve anything. You think favours are cheap or something?" Maddoc: "Ehh, you haven't burned one in a while. I'm seeing Don soon anyway, chill." Clemence: "It's not your moonlight that's being wasted!" Maddoc: "Not like you're doin' anything else with it!" (Aside) "Stingy."

Both men pass through a sliding door. Maddoc keeps eating his apple. Clemence: "Face it, the only ones who know what happened that night are our dead werewolf, a little girl who's probably rotting in some storm catchment in Tacoma, and Ashley." Maddoc swallows his bite and fiddles his tongue piercing between his teeth. "It just doesn't make any sense." Clemence, annoyed, pulling out his computer chair to sit down: "It makes perfect sense, you'd just rather pester the dead than ask Ashley a question you don't want answered. (And don't play with your nasty piercing in my lab.) He's hiding something. Mystery solved." Maddoc thinks, then gets an idea. "No, we're looking at it all wrong." Clemence shoots him an unimpressed look as Maddoc continues: "This whole time we've been assuming she's gotta be dead, because of the infection, but what if she never got bit?" Clemence pauses at that. Maddoc: "It's getting cold out. Stray goes in for a nibble - gets nothing but puffer jacket. Tosses her aside, but a kid her age can bounce back from that easy." Clemence leans back, annoyed, as Maddoc leers forward. "And now you're a scared, hurt little girl in downtown Seattle, who just watched a monster eat her parents like TV dinners. Can't go to a hospital 'cause they'll think you're crazy, couldn't go home 'cause the cops were there… but not any more." Maddoc slams the button for the door out. "You're driving, Full-eyes!" Clemence stands with a world-weary sigh.

Os dejo por aquí esta reflexión que dejé anoche por Instagram sobre esta Japan Weekend Madrid. Muchos artistas están enfadados (y con razón) y creo que esa fuerza es imprescindible para que la situación mejore, pero hay que hacérsela llegar a la organización y no dejarla en un grito al aire:

"He llegado a casa hace un ratillo, así que aprovecho para dar mi punto de vista de la situación:

Muchos me habéis preguntado por cómo ha ido la Japan y para mí ha sido normalita, con bastantes tiempos muertos. He pasado calor y ha habido elementos de mi stand que se han visto afectados por la situación de los stands (al aire libre). Creo que la afluencia de gente ha sido muy irregular, y que hay muchísimo que mejorar por parte de la organización tanto del evento como del staff del estadio.

Sé que ha habido gente que lo ha pasado peor que yo, pero creo que es importante que todos aportemos nuestras experiencias y seamos críticos desde nuestro propio punto de vista. No me gusta el "Nosotros vs ellos" que he visto en algunos comentarios que quiero pensar se han hecho desde el enfado y la impotencia de experimentar cómo unas expectativas no se cumplían.

Por mi parte intentaré hacerles llegar mi feedback en las próximas semanas, cuando esté descansada y tenga un hueco. Os animo a que hagáis lo mismo y uséis el correo de Arte, en lugar de poner críticas en Stories que caducan, en cuentas privadas, etcétera. Sé de primera mano que el staff de la JW se toma el feedback constructivo en serio y, en mi experiencia, son de lejos de los eventos uqe más abiertos han estado desde siempre a cambiar y mejorar.

Luchad y reclamad por las condiciones que deberíais haber tenido, por supuesto, pero si tenéis sugerencias, proponedlas y buscad remar en la dirección a la que os gustaría que llegara el panorama. Sea con la Japan o sea con el evento que sea. No hay evento perfecto ni evento que a los dos días de crearse desbanque a los heavy hitters así que lo que nos queda es presionar y trabajar lo que ya tenemos. Al menos ese es mi punto de vista :)

Descansad todes y mucha suerte con reclamaciones y demás."
