FIFA is here and METRO will be running more service than ever. The new service starts June 7 but you can start planning your trip today! There's no better time to try it out. Check out their increased service on local buses, park & ride, and the rail.

Ride the bus."Two screenshots of the route 108 bus headed towards Market Square Park downtown one week apart from each other. The schedule happening before FIFA takes 1 hour and the schedule during FIFA only takes 12 minutes.A screenshot of the Transit app showing the route 20 bus arriving at 15 minute intervals due to the increased frequency METRO is putting in place for FIFA. Previously the bus came every 30 minutes.A screenshot of Apple maps showing 30 minute frequency park and ride bus from Kingwood to Daikin Park. Text reads, "From June 7 - July 11 most park and ride routes will run every 30 minutes, seven days a week, until midnight. Suddenly this opens up new options to get to afternoon baseball games, weekend brunches, and of course FIFA Fan Fest - all without the hassle of driving.

Before Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin. At 15, Colvin refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus which ignited the movement for transit justice and civil rights. On #TransitEquityDay, we honor her legacy a future where mobility is a right, not a privilege.

Tap to pay is finally here! METRO now has this available on every bus and at all rail platforms for your use. As long as you have your tap enabled credit card or mobile wallet you can board the bus. Don't worry you can still pay with cash, but this is a great addition.

If you have a Q card you can use it until April 4, 2026, but you will not be able to add any money to it after February 28, 2026.

You can transfer your existing Q card funds to the new RideMETRO fare card at any METRO RideStore location. They will just deduct $2 to pay for the new card.

You can obtain a new RideMETRO fare card for $2 and load money on it at any METRO RideStore location, ticket vending machines, and participating retail locations."

Red line riders have been delayed for over a month now. The City and METRO could fix this today. We will continue fighting alongside you until it is restored systemwide. Until then we encourage you to continue sharing your stories & sign our petition at bit.ly/RestoreRedLine
Story from the Houston Chronicle titled: "Exclusive: Houston slowed downtown trains for politics, not safety, emails suggest." There is a quote from LINK Houston Policy Director Peter Eccles. "The signals project can achieve its goals without removing preemption. Riders appreciate that the city and Metro reversed this change at 16 of 26 intersections, and also their intent to restore reliable service," Eccles said. "Nonetheless, Houston's daily transit riders require more than good intentions. Trips on the Red Line are slower and less reliable than before, and they will stay that way until preemption is restored at all 26 intersections. We urge METRO to fix this mistake now.”

METRO has called two special board meetings tomorrow!!

Infrastructure and Mobility Planning Committee at 1:30 PM
Full Board Meeting at 2 PM

The only agenda item is “Request Board authorization to provide on-call paving construction services for the resurfacing and rehabiliation of roadways, sidewalks, and bus stops in the METRO service area”

METRONow seems to be getting put into action quickly as the name suggests.
Technically the deadline to give public comment has passed, but since this meeting was called so abruptly they might still allow late signups.
