Here's what our front entry area looks like now. The main hallways are like this too cuz it spread to the hallways on every floor. Luckily it did not get in our living room, kitchen, or bedrooms. I am very grateful for that. It's really hot in here though cuz some of the fans are set on hot air.

I had the most surreal Seattle experience on my lunch break today. I was walking back from the Pike Place Market where I picked up some lunch, and across the street, the Navy Jazz band was playing. They did some New Orleans jazz before switching to a tribute to Seattle Grunge music. So, these 1/2

Thanks! I hadn't seen that one yet. I dunno...I found these two pics of him from April of this year. His face looks much thinner and hollower cheeks, etc, than he looks in that picture. He looks super healthy for somebody his age and alleged injury and start to recovery...

For anyone new to the PNW or Seattle, or to anyone visiting and wondering why it's still so cold and cloudy still, we have a saying around here: Summer doesn't start till July 5th. We've known plenty of wet and rained-out 4th of Julys in our lives. Let's see if this year plays out like normal!

Here's a map of our state's volcanoes. If you have the chance to while you visit, take the Edmonds-Kingston ferry to see the sights. If it's a clear day, you'll be able to see Mt. Rainier/Tahoma to the south and Mt. Baker, to the north, as well as the mountain ranges on the east and west of us.

I know you asked for documentaries, but as others have chimed in with book recs, I'll share mine here. This is my personal collection of Holocaust books. Night, Schindler's List, and The Nazi Officer's Wife are probably not age-appropriate for a 12 year old, but the rest are all about/by kids.

A series of books about the Holocaust, including I Have Lived A Thousand Years, Schindler's List, The Diary of Anne Frank, Night, Anne Frank's Tales From the Secret Annex, The Upstairs Room, Number the Stars, and The Nazi Officer's Wife.

Went on a little adventure today. For the first time in my life, I did the walk-on ferry from Edmonds to Kingston. Stopped at the farmer's market at the park and bought some pretty stones, bookmarks, and a sticker, as well as some baked goodies. Had pizza and ice cream for lunch, did a little 1/2

Classic Seattle-style chicken teriyaki with deep-fried gyoza, two scoops of white rice, and a lettuce and carrot salad on a plate, with a small cup of teriyaki sauce. True Seattle teriyaki should be eaten directly out of the plastic container it came in.

I don't know what kind of bird this is, but I call them Cheepicheeps. They sit on our hummingbird feeder while eating seeds from a nearby bowl. They fist fight each other over the bowl of seeds and a hanging suet seed thing we have on our porch. They're cute, but greedy little things!

Time for my annual, pre-Valentine's Day viewing of my newest favorite version of Sense and Sensibility. Hallmark Channel did this a few years back, giving it the Bridgerton treatment, with bright colors and modern music in classical form, and it is fabulous! If you haven't seen it, track it down!!

Nature experts, does anybody know what kind of tree this is? In the summer, the leaves/needles are green and it looks like some type of pine tree, but this time of year, they turn orange and fall off in clumps/clusters. I have never seen any sort of pine cones on the tree before. Any ideas? Thanks!
