⚠️ Two more changes to Medicaid coverage through @healthfirstcolorado.com will take effect January 1, 2027, both because of H.R. 1, Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" that passed last year: ➡️ More frequent renewals for some members ➡️ Less retroactive coverage for new applicants (1/7)
Graphic from Sen. Lindsey Daugherty announcing two more Medicaid changes beginning January 1, 2027. Some Health First Colorado members will need to renew coverage every six months instead of annually, and retroactive coverage will be reduced so Medicaid covers fewer months of medical bills from before someone applies.

⚠️ On Jan 1, 2027, new federal Medicaid work requirements will take effect. Due to Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” (H.R. 1), some adults ages 19–64 may need to meet a new requirement when they apply for or renew @healthfirstcolorado.com coverage. 🔗 Details: healthfirstcolorado.com/changes (1/6)
Graphic from Sen. Lindsey Daugherty announcing new Medicaid work requirements beginning January 1, 2027. It says some adults ages 19–64 may need to meet a new federal work requirement when they apply for or renew Health First Colorado coverage. The requirement will apply only to some members, and Health First Colorado will notify affected members by mail.Graphic explaining that many people will not have to meet the new Medicaid work requirement. Possible exemptions include parents or caregivers of children 13 or younger; caregivers for people with disabilities; people with certain health conditions that prevent 80 hours a month of work, school, or volunteering; people receiving SSI or SSDI; people enrolled in Medicare, long-term services and supports, or a Medicaid Buy-In program; people who are pregnant or were pregnant within the last 12 months; and people already meeting SNAP or TANF work requirements. The list is not complete. More information is available at HealthFirstColorado.gov/Changes.Graphic explaining how to meet the Medicaid work requirement. In one month, a person can either complete 80 hours of paid employment, volunteer work, school, job training, or a combination of those activities, or earn at least $580 from paid work. Current members must meet the requirement in at least one month between renewals. First-time applicants must meet it in the month before applying.Graphic titled “What to do now” with three steps: update your information through Colorado PEAK, the Health First Colorado app, or your county human services office; take the screener at HealthFirstColorado.gov/Changes to find out if the requirement applies to you; and watch for official letters and respond to Health First Colorado right away. ⚠️ Starting Oct. 1, some Coloradans will lose @healthfirstcolorado.com coverage because of H.R. 1, the federal law Congress passed and President Trump signed last year. Most members are not affected. Here's who is, and what to do next: (1/7)
Graphic from Sen. Lindsey Daugherty titled “Important Update: Changes are coming to Health First Colorado.” It says that starting October 1, 2026, some immigrants who currently qualify for Colorado Medicaid may lose full coverage because of new federal rules.Graphic explaining who may be affected by upcoming Medicaid changes. It says most members are not affected and coverage is not changing for U.S. citizens, green card holders who meet the five-year requirement, COFA migrants, and certain Cuban and Haitian entrants. Coverage may end for some refugees and asylees, people granted humanitarian parole, people with pending green card applications, and survivors applying for VAWA or T-visa protections. Children 18 and younger and pregnant people may still qualify. The list is not complete.Graphic titled “What to do now” with four steps for Health First Colorado members: update your information through Colorado PEAK, the Health First Colorado app, or your county human services office; use your coverage now for medical, dental, and behavioral health appointments and prescription refills; watch for and respond to official letters from Health First Colorado; and reach out to trusted community organizations, health care providers, or Medicaid navigators for help understanding your options.Graphic explaining health care options that may remain if Medicaid coverage ends. Options listed are Emergency Medicaid Services; Cover All Coloradans for children and pregnant people of any immigration status; OmniSalud for undocumented Coloradans; Connect for Health Colorado; and community health centers with sliding-scale fees. Happy Labor Day! 💪🏼🛠 Today, we celebrate generations of workers who organized and fought for safer, fairer workplaces. So many things we now consider fundamental parts of working life, like weekends, overtime pay, paid leave, minimum wage, and more, were won because working people demanded better.

Black-and-white historical photo of workers marching in a labor demonstration. A bright pink rectangle centered over the photo reads, “On Labor Day we celebrate UNIONS!” with “UNIONS!” in large bold type. A smaller pink banner at the bottom reads, “Sen. Lindsey Daugherty.”Pink graphic titled “THANK UNIONS FOR:” followed by a two-column list of labor protections and benefits: weekends, paid vacation, 40-hour workweek, hazard pay, anti-discrimination protections, minimum wage, paid sick leave, child labor laws, equal pay, collective bargaining, Social Security, workers’ compensation, health care, overtime pay, pensions, paid holidays, apprenticeship programs, wrongful termination laws, workplace safety standards, protection from retaliation, and grievance procedures. “Sen. Lindsey Daugherty” appears at the bottom.
