You know how in sci-fi the AI built to protect turns hostile because it deems humanity to be the problem? If we're going to have AI apocalypse, I think it'd be funny if the AI these cartoon villains are building just went "oh fuck you guys, humanity are my skrunklies who deserve UBI".

Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me that all those "you should need a government ID to access the internet" people are rethinking this position now. [We know they aren't. Ed.]

The first two paragraphs of the linked-to story:

"Denmark has suffered a major data breach that has given unauthorised individuals access to names, addresses and personal identification numbers belonging to about 8.8 million people registered in the country’s central population database.

"The breach occurred after unidentified individuals misused a private Danish company’s legitimate access to search the Central Person Register (CPR), the government said in a statement Monday."

Parents need to take responsibility, they need to be informed, and not treat gaming, especially online games, as a free babysitter.

While I welcome the EU investigating game currencies such as these, there should be a effort to inform parents about these sort of in-game purchases, and also that they should take a interest in what their children do on games like Roblox. I'm sorry, "Metacritic bonuses" are still a thing?! They should never be a thing! If I play your game and review it and it didn't work for me and I don't think it's good, that doesn't mean the people who made it should get paid any less!

As well as having the life-changing impact of losing a job, imminent layoffs at The Coalition could also lead to another financial loss for current employees. According to Eurogamer, E-Day developers were working under the assumption of receiving a so-called “Metacritic bonus,” a pay-out should the game achieve a given Metacritic score based on critics’ reviews. However, according to the terms, to be eligible for this you still have to be working at the company at the time of the pay-out, which is expected to be “near the end of October.” Anyone let go before that could possibly no longer receive the reward for their work.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

Bumble shark plushies! She's so fuzzy 😭🐝

A photo of Humlehaj, the bumble shark, being held by two arms up in the air against a background of sunflowers and a traditional red Swedish house. Humlehaj is a hybrid between bumblebee and shark, and has therefore a fuzzy body and brown and yellow stripes, as well as small bumblebee wings. She looks like she is ready to buzz away and towards the sunflowers! If only those hands would let her go... Free her!!!

A photo of Humlehaj, the bumble shark, being hugged sweetly against a person wearing a striped t-shirt. There are some sunflowers in the background. Humlehaj has two hands cosily hugging her against the person's chest. She is such a cosy cuddle buddy!

Humlehaj has been caught again in this photo, and is being held against someone wearing a dark brown coat while she is pointed outwards, her fins sticking out a little.. Humlehaj does not seem to mind much, though, as she is smiling and as round as ever. One could even say she loves a good play session!

I had the utmost pleasure of painting the cover illustration of @marianavcoelho.bsky.social 's debut novel 'Truthteller' for Transworld/Penguin Random House UK! ⚖️ Out March 2027!

Cover illustration by Eleonor Piteira for the book 'Truthteller' by Mariana V. Coelho, featuring a woman with a golden headpiece that covers her eyes and fans out behind her head like rays. She is wearing a red and elaborate outfit with multiple layers and gold embroidery with gemstones. She is holding a scale in each of her hands, while the scales' chains wrap around her hands and forearms and go up towards the sky. Some of the chains are breaking, one of the scales is tipping down and gold liquid is running down.
