In just one week I'll be talking at the Commit your Code conference!! I'll be covering some really neat CSS features that are baseline available, using my own little cozy witchy whimsy theme and it's going to be a blast. Let me know if you're coming, I can't wait to see with everyone!

My speaker card for the commit your code conference. It shows a picture of me in a white shirt with colorful flowers grinning at the camera, with the Dallas skyline in the background and a text overlay sharing that I'm speaking at the conference, when and where it is, my name and job title, and an invite to join us and build more than code.

Tfw you ask your cards how to deal with being so overwhelmed and they tell you to literally get rid of things lolll

The death card from the cozy witch tarot deck, in this case called “broom”. Shows a woman surrounded by boxes in front of an open door where she’s sweeping dirt outside. The card’s text says “tidy up your life so you can make space for something better”.

Went for a walk at a local park this weekend, and saw a tiny rainbow in the lake's fountain. So naturally, I needed pictures with my boy next to it. 🌈💖

A lake surrounded by grass, with a fountain spraying water into the air causing a small misty rainbow. In the foreground, Linda wears a pastel pink tank top and is kneeling on the grass behind her dog Gizmo, a tan and white english shepherd. The two are looking at each other and grinning.

Laptop is updated with new stickers after #cyc2025! 💜

The back of a silver laptop covered in stickers. They show my love of Javascript, communities, pets, and words of affirmation. The new stickers are a cute shiba with hexagonal glasses, a bow tie, and a laptop; a frog catching a fly with the text debugging underneath him; and a chicken in a yellow circle with the text free range developers surrounding them.

Today I asked my cards: - I'm going to go through a task that I know has a high chance to make me feel down on myself. Any advice for getting through it? - How can I show myself compassion today? - Anything you want me to share with the world? These are the cards I drew. My interpretation of them:

Three tarot cards laid out in a row. From left to right: the six of cups, showing a woman buying flowers from a flower cart; the five of cups, showing a woman on the floor crying at some spilled teacups while some upright ones rest behind her; and justice, a judge sitting at a laptop with a dog at her feet and a cape and witch hat hanging on her clothes rack next to her.

Today's stream was SO much better! Had an idea earlier today, magically remembering it come stream time lol, & got it working!!! Ending up with code that's much more organized & should be easier to maintain. Forgot about custom hooks in React! Exactly what I needed here.

Blank pages. I have to find a way forward for myself. Trying for the millionth time to figure it out. Persistence is one trait I have to a fault, even as I adjust the paths I try. I will rise up again. I have to.

A dotted page notebook sits opened to two empty pages. To the right lies an open zipped bag filled with colored pens and highlighters.

Stream is live! Continuing to push forward on my news clone in Redwood, getting close to the end! Likely more low-key today, so come hang out, lurk, body double, whatever helps you. www.twitch.tv/lindakat Forgot my picture today, so enjoy a shot of Gizmo from his birthday last month. ❤️

Points are now live, and made a lot more progress than I expected on getting the new user pages started! Even in a frustrated state lol Still more work to go on the new bit but I'm really pleased w/ myself for figuring out the backend stuff faster than the frontend stuff. 🤣I am learning!

000

LindaKat ✨ @lindakat.com · 27/03/2025

Last scheduled stream of the week! Plan is to wrap up the points functionality and potentially get started on the layout for the last few pages for the app to be "complete". 🤞🏼 www.twitch.tv/lindakat

Linda looks directly in the camera with a slight smile in a gray long sleeved shirt.

Stream time! Gonna attempt to write a basic point counting algorithm for links users share, then potentially explore ways to make it a little more complex. Come hang out, chat, or lurk and enjoy the lo-fi! 💜 www.twitch.tv/lindakat

Linda's wearing a dusky blue shirt today (you can only see the tip of a ferris wheel design in the frame, but it's a tour t-shirt from the artist Matt Nathanson).

Stream time! Only just realized I've been one day behind in my video titles this week 🤣🤣so fixed it today, it really is Thurs! (I'm pretty sure lol) Feel free to lurk and enjoy the lo-fi and random ramblings as I work my way through building out the ability to upvote things! www.twitch.tv/lindakat

LindaKat ✨ @lindakat.com · 04/03/2025

Made some progress! Got the sign up form (mostly) styled, and wrote down where to start next so I remember what still needs cleaning up. lol Mostly it's going to be adjusting some of the fields and making sure the logic still works properly.

010

LindaKat ✨ @lindakat.com · 03/03/2025

Ok ok, finally doing a little coding stream again and actually sharing it. lol Feel free to stop by and say hi or lurk for a bit if you'd like. 😊 www.twitch.tv/lindakat

I can control so little these days, including my ability to "do the things". But dangit I managed to eek out a small win and actually fixed the CSS for this header! I'll take what I can get. Previous version on top, new one on the bottom. #OnePercentBetter

Two screenshots of the same site, a headline reading "Brazilian nut news" in yellow text on a black background with a small navigation bar overlaid across the top covering a small portion of the headline text, with a list of links in pink text on a yellow background below it. In the top photo, the headline text is cut off on the bottom and only fills roughly half the horizontal space. In the bottom photo, the size of the headline is bigger and you can properly see the bottom of the text.

Thanks rubber duckies!! 💚 Was going to ask for help figuring out how to mock authentication in RedwoodJS & Storybook, but in writing out the question I got it figured out! Hate my brain can't get there until it almost talks to another person, but at least I get there! lol

LindaKat ✨ @lindakat.com · 15/01/2025

#OnePercentBetterEveryday Just trying to take any small step I can get myself to take right now. Today that was a LeetCode problem! And refreshing on how to calculate the complexity of things, I haven't been doing that and that's always good to know. lol O(n) for time and space here!

A prettied up capture of a TypeScript function named mergeAlternately, that takes in two words and merges them together, alternating letters. It loops over both words based on whichever word is longest, and adds a letter from the first word then a letter from the second word. It uses the charAt functionality of strings in JavaScript to get the letter, which will return an empty string if there is no letter for a given index. Then it returns the new merged string.

Slept in. Sipping coffee, having breakfast. Feeling so grateful my brain was a liar and people do still like me. lol #CommitYourCode was such a soul-filling time! ❤️ If you need me, I'll be building out my Satisfactory Ficsmas factory to decorate my giant tree. 😍

A festive holiday workshop - large red storage containers, green factory buildings, white conveyor belts, and green gift trees decorated with red and blue ornaments are the main focus. The bottom of the foreground has two black gloved hands holding turquoise hoverpack controls. Around the factory are grassy cliffs and ocean water, with hypertube travel stations and a small hub area behind the holiday factory.

A builder stands behind the camera - you can only see their right hand in the bottom right of the photo, holding a cup of coffee. In front of them stands a giant green pine tree, with candy cane poles with bows on either side and a snowman on the left side.

I don't really know what "pumpkin spice strut pop" means lol but if it's these 3 ladies then I'm 1000% down. I guess I do listen to a lot of their stuff for confidence and as comfort songs lol....

A screen from my Spotify wrapped that says, "May was your pumpkin spice strut pop phase. You were really into artists like Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, and Halsey."

LindaKat ✨ @lindakat.com · 04/12/2024

....I may have had a bit of a thing this summer. lol! Also relatively surprised there's way less of my usual jazz/funk/lofi/etc stuff on here!

My Spotify wrapped results, which lists my top artists as: Taylor Swift, Matt Nathanson, Halsey, Meghan Trainor, and Mr. Bill. It also lists my top songs, all of which are from Taylor's newest album - Guilty as Sin?, Fortnight, The Tortured Poets Dept, I Can Do it with a Broken Heart, and Florida.
