Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Three people I have known now relied or rely on a bird of some kind to keep watch for them. I have to admit I’m being convinced it’s an alluring utility to have. Some of it is nostalgia, though. I had forgotten until recently the security of having one perched nearby in an overnight camp. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 14/09/2026After so much time spent in the country, what I need now is some good city excitement. It’s been years since I’ve seen a boufbowl match in person. Something like that, maybe. Preferably without the post-game riots. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 12/09/2026The matter of time dilation between worlds is one I may never get used to. For us it has been close to a month, but the dates shown on here suggest otherwise. But what a month it’s been, in any case. I’m ready to return home by now. Much to do, much to say. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 29/08/2026My retirement is a condition in name only. Though the whims of the Bontarian kings and queens are no longer mine to answer, they may still call for me, and I will still provide them with guidance. But between those unusual circumstances, it’s up to me to decide what to do now. 120
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 28/08/2026I do not miss my busy days of endless tasks. But there is something to be said about staying occupied. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 13/06/2026The inescapable heat of summer is one of the few things I haven’t missed about travelling. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Compared to things I have seen now in other worlds, it surprises me how little technology has advanced in my own. Not that I complain. For example, the magic of a boufbowl match would be lost if it was only watched through a screen. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 11/06/2026That great actor’s descendant telling me of her antique films last week has been on my mind lately. It’s probably a good thing the gelevision never caught on as a common household appliance in the modern age. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 09/06/2026But even with a ward against them, it’s disorienting to still be aware I would have had some nightmare if I could. The tension is there. The memory of whatever cruel imagery might’ve been is not. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 09/06/2026The countryside is much calmer these nights without the scrutinising gaze of a certain dragon. A welcome reprieve for at least the next few years. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 08/06/2026There is nothing quite so refreshing as sleeping under the stars again. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 06/06/2026This city has never really outgrown its penchant for outrageous sports celebrations. If anything the energy for it has only increased throughout the ages. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 03/06/2026There is a certain unique frustration with being an old antique dealer, though. Imagine being hit on the head by the perch-staff held by a ghost and not knowing where that same item exists on the material plane, if at all. Maddening. 000
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 03/06/2026The drawback of being so well known is that on occasion I will be flagged down to appraise an item of interest someone happens to have. They see me, storied owner of an antique and adventurer supply shop, and know I will either have insight, or want it for myself. They are usually right. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 03/06/2026It has been, what, almost a year now? My strength has finally recovered completely, it seems. Perhaps to my own detriment. I’ve gotten too restless these past few weeks. 000
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 03/06/2026Of course you are. Of course you won’t. The only thing that stops a fool is their own demise. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 02/06/2026I have heard enough stories from those I’ve met to know now that covetous sources of power are surprisingly common across the worlds. Be it a dragon egg, a strange gem, or other item, there is always something divine to be sought after. And there will always be misguided men who seek to obtain it. 120
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Resurrections, on the other hand… Such a thing has only been attempted once in my lifetime. And it was not brought to true completion. The means to achieve it in the first place are brutal. In any case, because it was incomplete, this is another thing I cannot speak to, though it’s now on my mind. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 01/06/2026I have seen also the madness that arises from an eternity of unbroken memories between reincarnations. That is hardly any better, I imagine. But I can only speak to a looming eternity of memories from one singular life. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 01/06/2026There is plenty to say about the topic of alternates and the expansive nature of them too. The concept as a whole is not new to me. I have known and seen examples of it personally, before even stepping foot into the wider Krosmoz. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 01/06/2026A thought that has captivated me for a few days now is what it might have been like to grow up in another world. Under different circumstances, perhaps I would have a fascination with dragons not out of obligation, but from some childhood whimsy. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 29/05/2026No less than twenty people in the last two days have stopped to tell or ask me some manner of thing related to my renewed consistent presence in the city. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Knowing what I do now about the prevalence of mobile phones and other recording devices in so many worlds, I can say I’m grateful such things are not common in mine. 000
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Over the years I have heard plenty of people voice their wishes or curiosity for if the Shushu might some day be “domesticated”. I can understand where they’re coming from. No small number of Shushu are contained within items which, when possessed by these souls, are all the more useful. 120
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 24/05/2026A few months spent with someone does not compare to years without them seemingly in death. I do not regret the time I’ve spent idle since Luis’s return. But now, I think it’s time I resumed adventuring. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 02/01/2026For me the year ended yesterday. And what a year it was. One which was filled with many firsts and unexpected encounters, some good, some nearly fatal. But I would do it all again if it meant the same outcome… For the first time in many, I look toward the new year with an unusual peace of mind. 120
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 18/12/2025It should not surprise me so much to realise the tasks I give myself to aid this town are similar in nature to my time as ambassador. 700 or so years is a long time to build a habit. These things are not so easy to move on from wanting to do. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 10/12/2025Now that I’ve had time to settle back in from it all… It may have been too soon for such a lengthy excursion. Though my health has endured, it’s my stamina that is somewhat still lacking after the events of earlier this year. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 05/11/2025And now the reports of higher-class Shushu wreaking havoc elsewhere… An agitating coincidence, this timing. Just this once, let it be someone else’s problem. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 31/10/2025Ah… Cameron is no more. Left behind is only an empty thing. Can’t even take pictures anymore… I was responsible for him, so I feel a sense of regret. But perhaps it was like adopting an ancient bow-meow, and providing them a comfortable place to expire. I knew him when even I was young. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 19/10/2025But with each passing year, I find I’ve gotten more sentimental in my great age. Too often the end of the year brings up a lot of those old memories. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 19/10/2025The cold season has arrived. I’ve found myself spending most of my free time helping with the community pantry. It brings to mind the days tending to that bunch of at-the-time nameless orphans and the shelter later constructed for them. 130
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 18/09/2025The mayor of this town has enlisted my help to cook for a community event of sorts. I can only guess what led to this… 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 08/09/2025…800 or so years, and only now am I beginning to understand how sleep deprived I may have been for a majority of that long life. But when you live with something for long enough, it becomes your normal condition. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 03/09/2025A tiny kid asked for my help today to carry his groceries home. His only parent is at the end of life, too weak to move from bed, and so he was out alone, responsible and determined and much too young to have to be. In him I saw myself. 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 21/08/2025This fridge in which nothing spoils has been such a boon in my life. It can be difficult to make portions just for myself. Habit sees me preparing enough for three all too often… 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 21/08/2025It has been some time since I’ve seen a rooftop sunrise. Such a simple pleasure. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 31/07/2025So ends a month of hardships and recovery. I feel as though a greater sense of normality has been restored to me. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 21/07/2025It’s a relief to be back to normal meals again. As much as I can appreciate the reasoning, I wasn’t built for eating only fruit and light things… 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 11/06/2025More and more I find this house to be unbearable. No amount of personalisation or any such courtesy can make it into a home. Perhaps it’s too big, too empty, too haunted. I find myself wishing to sleep anywhere else lately. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 24/05/2025…I could do without the multiverse pulling pranks on me on this day. Or any other day, for that matter. 200
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 19/05/2025A constant truth of this world is there will always be battles, and there will always be wreckage left behind and pieces to pick up afterwards. There will be soldiers wounded and reaching for comfort but too far gone to receive it, and regular civilians in disarray. 100
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 10/05/2025The kids were sad to see me go, but less so with a home-cooked meal in their bellies and promises of treats next time I visit, hopefully. 010
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 10/05/2025I’ve spent the majority of this week helping out with an orphanage overseen by the same group who helped establish mine in Bonta back in the day. I didn’t intend to stay for long, but when these tiny Ecaflip kittens are pawing at my sleeves begging me to, how can I refuse? 110
Joris @liminalstasis.bsky.social · 04/05/2025With age comes an inescapable grief. For people, for places, for experiences. To tell you it ever stops would be to make myself a liar. The pain doesn’t go away, no. It simply changes, day to day. But slowly, eventually, you learn to live with it. 100
