With my project Lost Harbours I went on a little tour over the last week. A lovely show in Tallinn in an old factory space, two gigs in Rīga at bars I highly rate and one show in Talsi - a gorgeous little town in Kurzeme. We will finish back in Rīga in support of People Skills.

Touring Europe across multiple language and currencies… that’s tricky. Ive done it. Easier with a tour booker, but you struggle unless you have a native speaker in some of the bigger countries like Italy snd France. America - one country, no borders, one currency, one language, 5,000+ cities

That might limit you to a couple of million speakers, and a lot less of actual adults in the right age range. Could give more funding potential, but it’ll never be enough to live from or really drive success, unless you’re Swedish. America at least has a those touring networks deeply ingrained.

I can only speak from a European perspective here. The government funding is very competitive and a lot of issues around it can ruin a tour rather than support it. There are also language barriers if you choose to sing in your native language. Home audience accepts its native language. However…
