It's time for more adventures in inebriation and dorm life, as our tipsy heroine weathers a thunderstorm and then heads off for the coast. Let's dive into a sensationally solo-animated episode of Kamiina Botan! wrongeverytime.com/2026/09/11/k...

I was surprised to hear a Keiichi Hirokawa song in Tanpuri ep 31, turns out that I shouldn't be as he already once wrote the opening to Kimipuri, huh... I completely skipped last season so I didn't know that tbf both songs are somewhat below par for him, still it's always nice to hear his tracks

Though Kaoru was nearly struck dead on the court of basketball, her convalescence sparks new hope within our tormented students, as Miya-sama's wicked power begins to weaken. Let's return to the delightful drama of Dear Brother! wrongeverytime.com/2026/08/28/d...

Aikatsu and PriPara, which are not old and far from obscure, but they're still sprawling epics representing the most dreaded, unserious genre of idol themed shows aimed at little girls and therefore the realistic chances of them ever getting a BD release in English are around <1%

Let's start the week with some delightful goddamn lunacy, as underground golf heavy Eve wields her devastating Blue Bullet against the "Innocent Tyrant" Aoi. That's right, it's time for Birdie Wing, where every bitter bogey might be your last! wrongeverytime.com/2026/08/03/b...

I hope one day I get to see the character sheets for tanpuri, there are so many instances of thick contours in pretty much every episode of this season no matter the AD - surely they have to have a common source in there?

direction, animation, drawings, fight choreography, comedy.... it's episodes like this, however uncommon they may be, that I keep watching precure for - tanpuri 25 is an all-timer

Today I intended to watch Nausicaa with a friend in the cinema, but to my surprise 15 mins before airing the seance was sold out .... I did not expect this to happen given the movie is screened pretty much every few months

I'm tired as hell after the trip but I also made the mistake of checking staff for the last two eps of Kamiina Botan I'm yet to catch up on and the knowledge makes it very hard not to watch these episodes right now

Today I'm on a trip to Poznań to see The Last Blossom which is getting screened during the Animator Film Festival - a great movie, and more similar to ODDTAXI than I expected in terms of construction of the story eg. the way its different pieces fall into place in the finale

Passing by Lausanne I took the opportunity to see the Isao Takahata exhibition in MUDAC and it was super, super interesting - cels, BGs, genga, layouts, storyboards, settei, scripts, production notes (even stuff like production schedules) from every* work he directed

Au revoir Annecy! It was a fine time at the movies this year - I hadn't felt I disliked a single viewing, which unfortunately was the case back in 2024 Now the grueling 20h+ car ride back home begins...

A road sign that indicates Annecy is over

We Are Aliens is really fucking good - an ugly social ostracisation story, like A Silent Voice by way of Taiyo Matsumoto Said ugliness is conveyed through uncanny designs, grungy setting, constantly impressive animation (a good part of it rotoscoped, I think) and horror leaning direction #Annecy2026

A New Dawn has that Shinkai-ish HDR look and lots of beautiful BGs, as one would expect by looking at Shinomiya's resume I however did not expect a stop motion scene filmed on a diorama!

bountiful bouncy sakuga in today's Precure, as well as some nice post-Kanada chunky movement during the fight scene - what's there not to love? I suppose a lot of it was thanks to AD/top KA Yuuki Kitajima since the bounce and smears were consistent throughout
