Country singer Dallas Jones is the target of an assassination attempt. During his recovery, while feeling a little dizzy from the pain medication, he wishes his life could be more like fanfiction.
Owen Haines threw himself between Dallas and the shooter. He knows how to protect everyone but himself.
After Dallas makes his wish, the universe pushes them together. They become subject to increasingly ridiculous tropes and must consult a shipping pro to navigate the new stakes.
They find themselves huddling together during a freak snowstorm, body-swapping and other classic tropes. In this celebrity AU, the star and his bodyguard must learn to survive traditional fanfiction twists.

GOD FORBID Camus’ “The Stranger” meets “Dogma” meets “The Good Place” #WSPit #A #WIP #BIPOC

Black text on an icy white background.

In the beginning...

It’s raining when he jumps from the bridge and dies.
It was his choice. He knew what he was doing. His death was deliberate. He knew that much
going into this, which is why it’s strange that he doesn’t remember anything when he wakes up
alone.
Now, sitting up in a warm, soft bed with a warm, soft comforter, he pushes himself up and
looks around the unfamiliar room. Frowning, he searches for something, anything to tell him
where he is or who he is.

Favorite Moment

“So, I’m Jesus, but I don’t have powers?” he asks.
“Basically,” answers Lucifer.
“And you kissed me and betrayed me?”
“That’s not why he kissed you,” says Gabriel.
Lucifer shoots him a look.

Eraserhead x Alice in Wonderland My name is Pie-Eye, and I don't know who I am. A surreal noir odyssey following an amnesiac drifting through a decaying city. #wspit #q #h #lgbt #nd #f #bipoc #own

A photography collage of a persons face that looks odd and disjointed in shades of blue and purple

A purple and blue flower collage in the background with text that reads:

Pie-Eye wanders through ruined streets, encountering strange creatures who offer answers that never quite answer anything.

The city rots.
The questions multiply.
Yet meaning remains out of reach.

GOD FORBID #wip A middle eastern atheist jumps from a bridge & finds himself in Heaven with God. Heaven's pretty monochromatic and lacking in #DEI initiatives. God tells him he’s Jesus Christ. The Devil confirms this. Things seem all right until they go horribly wrong. #A #IN #BIPOC #WSPit

Mood board for God Forbid. Top left image shows a purple-toned tundra with a pink and orange sunset. The image to the right shows many hands raised in the air in worship. They are silhouetted against a bright yellow light with the shadow of a cross coming through.
On the second row, to the left, is a black and white image of a hand gripping a rosary. The cross dangles from the fist. Beside that image is a picture of red wine spilled on a white table cloth. The background is black and the light only illuminates the fallen wine glasses, white cloth and red liquid.
On the last row there is a cropped image of the cover for God Forbid. The words “God Forbid” are written in the author’s handwriting. The title is in black against a white background. Beside that image is a cropped version of The Fallen Angel painting by Alexandre Cabanel. It shows a close up of Lucifer’s face, he’s just fallen and has tears of rage in his eyes.

The cover for God Forbid. The title is written in black in the author’s handwriting. The background is white.
Below the title are a set of eyes. They are side by side to look like a pair, but a black bar separates them. One eye belongs to Jesus. One eye belongs to Lucifer. Surrounding the eyes are vine-like designs with curves and spirals extending into the white space.

If your dud novel is a few years old and you continued to write after it published, it likely means your current writing capability is superior to what you wrote then. This is the natural result of continuing practice. Editing an old novel is instructive. #writingcommunity #booksky #duds

For the record, do I think a one-day boycott is going to make much of an economic impact? No. Do I think that a sort of "Baby's First Boycott," performative though it is, might be useful to make some folks aware of the impact of their economic power, and how it might be wielded politically? Maybe.

1984 X HOZIER X IN TIME Health, wealth, & beauty in a single pill-if u can afford it. In future America, HealthCorp's lottery is May's best bet to escape poverty & win unrequited love. But w/ the CEO's son's offer to help steal meds, she not only risks his betrayal but her heart #WSPitQ #A #SF 🌶️ #R

Looking back meme with May holding hands with her oblivious BFF and unrequited love but looking back at the CEO's disinherited son.

Comps: future government corruption meets Hozier level pining. Book image of The Marriage Act by John Marrs and Chain Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah with a Hozier album.

Themes: Spicy friends with benefits, American anger, power and control, facial and body dysmorphia, chronic illness rep, class divide and inequality, billionaire romance gone broke, social justice themes, and Healthcare corporate corruption.

Nina Castle’s Take As Prescribed, a spicy adult dystopian, first page teaser: CHAPTER 1

Thoughts and prayers aren’t worth much, at least south of the Divide. It’s a sentiment the plastics use when they hear of things like our mortality rate or ever-increasing birth defects, but don’t be fooled. This is America where thinking’s outdated, and we pray to pills.

In the north, they manufacture god in pharmaceutical bottles labeled “GeNew.” Not that anyone I know could ever afford it. Health, wealth, and beauty belong to the financially devout. To be fair, we all love money…it just doesn’t love us all back.

Uncle David tells me food’s the problem as he peels away two breakfast cubes from their thin plastic wrapping.

“It’s this damn processed shit makin’ us sick,” he says, smacking the pot harder than necessary on the single electric burner.

Guess it’s boiled cube, today.

“They price gouge us with poison, then try to sell us the cure. It’s all about money, May, mark my words. Those bastards at HealthCorp don’t give a damn about us unless we’re paddin’ their pockets.”

I nod along as I always do when the injustice inside him spills out in the form of a rant. David’s from a time they remembered whole foods, even if what they ate was a mere semblance of the real thing. Perhaps in Europe and the Asias it still exists along with their muffled cries for human rights.

As for me, I can’t be angry. Anger takes energy, of which I’ve little to spare. Like everyone this side of the Divide, I’m ugly with deformities. Weak with sickness. My broad shoulders hunch, and my spine curves to a hump at the base of my neck. My fragile hair litters our single room apartment like the black polyester threads from our tattered clothes. Like everyone, I am dying.

Book cover for Nina Castle's Take as Prescribed. Woman with open mouth and pill on her tongue while a man's hand grips her neck.
