"We have Beverly Crusher. Deposit 30 bars of gold-pressed latinum at the following location if you want to see her again..." 😅 You expect Picard to pay the ransom?

What it looks like in motion. Doing my best not to be disqualified... 😅 Route A, Stage 4.

Seeing this Power Drift talk was all the encouragement I needed to load up the Spectrum version for a quick runabout in my lunch break today. I can still (by the skin of my teeth) make it through route A. The little driver's smiley face when you make it to the end is so adorable. 😊 #ZXSpectrum

I loved this game on the Spectrum, even if it was graphically a bit messy at times. Sadly my original tape got chewed when my cassette player's belt snapped... 😭

I'm more interested in using it for playing BreakThru! 😁

Took me a good 30 seconds to realise you weren't writing about putting a floppy disk in your mouth... 😅 Hope it gets better soon!

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Nice! Something that's on my wishlist too!

110

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

And plenty of games actually took advantage of the upgrades too! Compare to the New 3DS, which was a much bigger upgrade from the base model than the GBC was, but hardly any retail games ever put it to good use...

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Aww, now that's cool! 🤩

Got a Travelodge room overlooking Piccadilly Gardens for the night. It's a better view than I normally get at these places at least.

A view of Manchester Piccadilly Gardens.

Up in the Manchester office for a few days, thanks to my normal workplace having burnt down.

I'm travelling light, so didn't bring mine with me unfortunately. 😅

Wow... This is like Densha de Go! but for real! 😁

I think this was the last NES game I bought "new", circa 1996. The one copy had been sitting on the shelf in my local W.H. Smith's for years at that point, so I finally caved and bought it. 😂

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

😂 I can't decide if you're getting to the Halloween mood, screaming at the state of the world, or just turning northern...

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I've enjoyed having my US SNES on the living room TV the last few months, but it's time for it to go back upstairs and the N64 to take its place.

A North American SNES, Micro Machines cartridge inserted, sat atop a PS4 and beside a GameCube.

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee PC?

120

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Yeah and the Sega name appeared on Nintendo systems as far back as NES thanks to Tengen. It's a shame Sony Imagesoft didn't stick around into the N64 era so we could have had Sony on the N64 as well. I thought the best chance was Wipeout 64, but no mention of Sony on the box, manual nor cartridge!

010

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I always think it's a shame Sony didn't get in on the N64 fun like Sega and Microsoft did... 😁 #Nintendo64

This is the one I see most commonly, but not all 210s are the same! There are at least 4 different revisions of the internals, with the last one sharing the same motherboard as the 470 top-loader models.

110

Thom @lilock33.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

It's your typical mediocre licensed tie-in, so it's doesn't surprise me that it's largely forgotten. Still, it's better than nothing!

To be fair, if I had three wishes I'd probably have one of them be for a magnificent caravan too...

Aww, I didn't get all the cool extras in the Game Boy version, but on the other hand I did get to play it on the beach. 😁

My pick for the best 16-bit Tetris out there. 😀👍

Probably best left that way to be honest... 😅

The Prophets were with me as I reached onto my SNES shelf and came away with ST:DS9 Crossroads of Time for this #RandomGameSaturday. Sadly it doesn't follow the crew travelling back to a 20th century Birmingham motel but you do get to fight the Borg in the maze-like corridors of the USS Saratoga.

A six button Mega Drive pad's something I still haven't got yet, but then I don't think I have any games that would take advantage of it... 😅

Didn't I say my #Tetris99 luck was changing? Consecutive wins! 😁 A shame I couldn't make it a third... 😅

As much as I love this game it always ends up frustrating me in equal measure. You can drive over a boulder and nothing happens, then drive over a pebble and it flips your vehicle! 😆

My Dreamcast doesn't do cake... must be something wrong with it.

So as I've been playing through Tales of Phantasia on PSX I've been getting really strong Mario Golf vibes from the music. Both the instrument samples and compositions were strongly reminicient. Sure enough, Motoi Sakuraba turns out to be the primary composer on both series. 😁

Cracking version of Lemmings though, whether it was intended as a game system or not! 😀

Trying to dial in optimised settings for my Spectrum on the OSSC. I think that's as clear a picture as I'm ever likely to see from my trusty old +2. #ZXSpectrum

My garden is mostly weeds, so I can't say I'm too upset that things are starting to die off... 😅
