I'm sure it is I spoke out against generative AI usage on r/decomps and got downvoted to hell, at this point it's too ingrained in the community; I'm certain 98% of decomps and recomps use GenAI to some degree That 2% is reserved for the good projects like Dusklight and AstroCore

It's also just genuinely satisfying to see the creative process. Unless you're buying a YCH or a Skeb-style commission, most artists will keep you up-to-date with WIPs, continuously asking you for feedback and whether revisions are necessary, and some even stream their art.

That's also putting aside the environmental and economical concerns. AI data centers are being built in residential areas, increasingly suburban and rural ones without infrastructure. They're ruining the local water supply and driving up electric costs, while causing horrid, intolerable noise.

I like to call AI "the plagiarism machine". AI does not "create", it generates. It is a composite of artwork and other content taken from others and reused without permission. It is perhaps the easiest way to plagiarize since copy-paste was invented. It also just shows a general lack of effort.

I also want to say, you did speak out against AI in VGM. I don't personally understand how VGM is distinct from "regular" music in this case. All music is art (with the notable exception of AI-generated "music") and it deserves to be treated and protected as such, no matter the genre or usage.

I appreciate the accountability, but I don't think it's enough. You need to remove the AI-generated content entirely. That includes the music and website. I get the sentimental value it holds, but as long as it stays online, it is going to do real damage to your reputation and the GameChops brand.

As much as I'd love that, you'd be surprised how many GameChops artists just don't accept direct donations. That and, a YouTube/Bandcamp downloader is a guaranteed way to get the worst quality. All YouTube uploads and Bandcamp previews are in about 128kbps MP3 to dissuade downloader usage.

It might've been only you, but it still reflects badly on the label and on you as a person. It's also a bad influence on your children, as it raises them to believe that plagiarism machines (generative AI) are cool and ethical. They're not, and you as a creator should know that.

For mid-October, flight prices are definitely not going down from here. In fact, they usually spike when you get within two weeks of departure, with airlines taking advantage of last minute bookers. In the future I recommend setting up the Google Flights price tracker at least four months ahead.
