With all the rain we've been having it hasn't hardened up as much as I'd have liked, but I guess so long I leave them to dry out above ground then they should still store alright.

I've had to convince myself that I'm growing the peas for seeds, there's just too many. I even had a pea sandwich for lunch! 😂

Oh, like 3 years now. There's lots of insects\bees etc in the area, they just never seem to use it 😅

It does seem to go from "no raspberries" to "more raspberries than you have used for" doesn't it 😂

We're having the opposite problem here in UK. Constantly raining.

I've been away for a while, but finally found time to get out in the garden and pull some garlic 🧄🌱 #gardening
Freshly pulled garlic bulbs, still covered in soil

I can't get anything done when it's this windy 🍃 🌱

What's the little tablet thing?

I've heard that too, but I've never actually had a problem with transplanting pea's. Possibly one of those gardening things that's more folklore than fact

That's the only cure. Everyone else's suggestions are on par with 'quitting' smoking by starting vaping.

That first one is a crazy way to hold a phone. Even more crazy by the picture right next to it demonstrating that you do in fact hold a phone like the rest of us 😅

It speaks volumes on their target audience that they're giving tripe like that any validity in the first place.

If you're just looking to cover the fence area, sneak some ivy from your neighbour 👨‍🌾 I've got it along my back wall and it's relatively easy to stop it spreading to areas you don't want it to go.

In my experience it's the same. I've grown the same variety of cherry toms, allowing one to have 3 leaders (nipping off the rest). Then the other pulling all side shoots. The only noticeable difference was that the one with multiple leaders didn't grow as tall. The amount of tomato's was the same

These strawberries gave structure to the garden but always felt like wasted space so this year all but the very end one's are going. What was several 50cm planters is now 3 by 3 metres of new growing space 👨‍🌾🌱💚🟢 #gardening #growyourown
A garden in midsummer showing 2 rows of strawberry plants in plantersThe same area but with the planters removed and the ground dug over to make 2 large beds

Oh sorry, I meant... You get rid of the plant that came with it and put your own plant in. As in... Plant pots with plants in have a short 'shelf life' so you can often get them much cheaper with a half-dead plant in than you could buying something similar that's just an empty pot

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 21/03/2024
In the past I've found it easier and 'cheaper' to buy a pre-potted plant that's in a nice pot than it is find nice pits just being sold as is

It might have been trying to hide an egg. I used to regularly find chicken eggs buried by a family of foxes.

Oh really? You don't 'manually' water them at all? Being an early plant of mine (when I was about 14) I definitely showed it too much love haha. Even the classic gardeners mistake of "it's dying... Because it needs more water!" 🤭

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
I've only ever had one succulent flower, and it took about 7 years 😅

Do the first flowers still drop when you're using light's?

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
Some of the first plants I ever had (which meant it ended up dead pretty quickly lol) I got to see it renew it's 'leaves' once before it died. Very unusual plant's

It's that crazy time of year were you think it's safe then suddenly the grounds frozen again 😔 Definitely going to be a couple more weeks before I risk planting anything outside.

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
I've got almost a couple of months before it's too warm. My winters aren't too harsh but my region does have unpredictable swings between warm and freezing at this time of year.

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
Wow! How early did you plant those peas to have some already 😯 Mine are still little nubs on the ground 😅

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
Best I ever got was catching a red tailed queen bee digging a nest in the ground. But that was only because they're about 4x the size of other bee's so I couldn't see it from the other end of the garden 🤭

Well I'm not going to go investigating to find out the type of spider 🕷️😅 I'll just leave it be and if it suddenly crawls in 100 different directions then I'll know lol

Strawberry plants naturally spread like crazy. Once you plant them once then you're stuck with them for life 😂

Oh it could be. Would they lay in a wet area like that though? 🤔

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
Gardening is a skill like any other and takes practice ☺️ The great thing is there's always something new to learn or a new thing to try and grow 🌱👨‍🌾💚

🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
Fungus knats are awful, but as with a lot of insects they only live and lay eggs in the very top layer of soil. Letting the top inch or so dry out and watering from the bottom will get rid of them
010
🍂 LilCoty 🌻👨‍🌾 @lilcotyledon.bsky.social · 17/03/2024
A lot of strawberry seeds need a period of cold storage to germinate. If you've still got some try outting them in the freezer (dry, not wet) for a couple of weeks, then sow them as you normally would.

'Merit mushrooms' is the recommended one of you're in the UK.

Coffee needs large fluctuations in temperature and humidity (from day to night) that you wouldn't be able to replicate outside of coffee growing regions anyway, so not too much of a loss.

I like how those two have punched through but the one bottom-right just went "I'll just go around" 🤭
