I believe Glenn Wong designed Ultimo, Chap Yaep desgined Tini, and Synaptek may have been a team effort between Glenn, Chap, and Art Lee but I cannot say for sure.

My son asked me to draw a picture of the ancients from Sonic to gift his mom today. I was nervous because 1) I have literally drawn like 3 pictures in the last 4 years and 2) my son is very particular with his tastes. It wasn't as bad as I thought and he was super proud to give it to her.

Just a silly drawing I did of me and a classmate (the goatest) that I added to the end of our research project presentation last term. Rusty is an understatement.

I have a lot of the model sheets saved to my hard drive but I was still learning how to become a character designer so much of what I did was costume changes and battle damage. Not much to look at 😅

TJ Collins @lilaswang.bsky.social · 24/03/2026

No, as far as I remember there was only one rough design for him done by Butch Lukic that I worked from and the original was kept by the studio. I can not find a copy on my hard drive.

I would probably go with: 1. Echo Echo 2. Spidermonkey 3. Rath 4. Chamalien 5. XLR8 6. Diamondhead 7. Grey Matter 8. Big Chill 9. Water Hazard 10. Clockwork Not sure how much that would change if I could go ultimate or not.

I’ve never been comfortable sharing work from the show that I didn’t do myself so I won’t share what others did for the script, storyboard, or artwork process. Sorry.

Coloring for preproduction was done digitally. I believe it was also done digitally for the animation but I do not know for certain.

000

TJ Collins @lilaswang.bsky.social · 02/03/2026

Those are more related to the actual animation which we did not do. The actual animation was done by animation studios in Korea.

000

TJ Collins @lilaswang.bsky.social · 01/03/2026

Yes, very similar. Producer meets with writers about the story ideas, they write it, voice actors are recorded, storyboards are made off those performances, designs are made off script and storyboards, everything is sent overseas to be animated, animation comes back, and music and sfx are added.

One day my high school English teacher didn’t feel like teaching us so he said he would put on a movie and asked us what we wanted to watch. A classmate asked if he had Speed to which he replied, “ Of course I have speed but I asked you what movie you wanted to watch.”

If memory serves me right Glenn Wong did her human version and Chap Yaep did her alien version.

Artistic or stylistic choice by Glen Murakami for his vision of the show.

TJ Collins @lilaswang.bsky.social · 14/02/2026

If I had to venture a guess, I would think maybe it was to provide better contrast and visibility against the dark backgrounds. Maybe also providing a distinction of magic powers or maybe it was as dumb as the studio wanting it more gender coded or marketable.

1. I can’t speak to reasons why they chose to revive the Lucky Girl outfit for the show. Designers aren’t always informed why they chose to do things for the story. 2. I have no idea and would honestly be surprised if it was ever seriously discussed. 3. I can’t speak to this decision either.

Personal opinion, he transforms into it the same as all the other aliens because my understanding is the omnitrix alters his DNA allowing him to transform into the aliens whose DNA is stored in it. I don't believe anything was ever summoned with it.

Our upcoming game The Hearth and Harbour is fully 2D, but with some neat tricks we’ve made it look 3D. Ethan, our environment artist, did this with a special type of texture called a Normal Map. (Thread! 1/7)

I was not made aware of why that change took place nor did I ever ask. It may have been as simple as giving him a growth spurt but I can’t say. And it was less making him a copy of Kevin and more making him an opposite of what he once was for shock value - from small and chubby to tall and athletic.

Glen Murakami was the Executive Producer and Art Director so he had the final say in how all of the artwork looked. Glenn Wong was the Lead Character Designer.
