It is amazing how little Ajmal’s Amber Wood smells like any kind of amber. And it only smells of wood in an unpleasant way. …apparently it’s made of a family of synthetics that smell very different depending on your genetics.

@weaselbotaur.bsky.social The thing is, Jira doesn’t feel like a tool made by developers for developers. It feels like a tool made by MBAs for developers.

I would be so happy if Jira ceased to exist. People keep telling me it’s _so_ much better than Bugzilla, but I have no idea what’s supposed to make it even _vaguely passable_.

I remember when “Present your papers!” was the synecdoche for an oppressive regime.

[Star Trek: Strangers form the Sky] One thing about reading some of the more expansive novels from the TOS era is seeing just how much of what I had grown up thinking the Federation ‘just was’ from TNG and that I’d mentally assumed when watching TOS was not actually _a part of the […]

[Star Trek: Strangers form the Sky] As far as I’m concerned, this is the canon first contact. Why should people who have clearly shown they can’t write first contact with Vulcans competently be the ones to decide what canon is?

[Star Trek Hot Take] Carbon Creek is better than Star Trek IV. The only good thing in Star Trek IV is the whale probe. Everything else is a bad 80s sitcom someone mistook for a Star Trek movie.

Honestly, I adore Brut. It’s like classic Old Spice. One of the classic old-time drugstore fragrances that’s really well-composed.

Sartoriel has the water/metallic notes of the kinds of ‘blue’ fragrances I’ve been turned off of, but in the context they feel almost like they serve a similar function to a green/aldehyde opening.

1970s era vintage Charlie is _really_ good. The bright green floral aldehyde is just _fresh_ , and while it has vanilla in the base, they don’t do what so many modern fragrances do and dump in vanilla until it overwhelms everything else. It’s well-balanced and you have to ‘smell carefully’ to […]

I think a big part of it is just that I _hate_ 80s soft rock. I hated it during the 80s when I was a kit. I hate it now. It’s why I’ve never rewatched The Fox and the Hound in spite of liking everything else about it. I just can’t stand the soundtrack.
