RIP Dolly Parton! A talented performer and a great lady who left a wonderful legacy in the form of the Imagination Library. Don't forget to donate to it in memory of her! If you can't get through, try later, since so many people are logging on at once, which is heartwarming when you think about it.

🔴CALLING ALL ARTISTS🔴 Christie's NYC is planning an AI art auction expected to bring in over $600,000 to creators who've used models trained on copyrighted material from non-consenting artists. If you object to this, please sign and share this open letter. openletter.earth/cancel-the-c...

8 February 2025
Cancel the Christie's AI Art Auction

Nicole Sales Giles & Sebastian Sanchez

Christie’s, New York

Dear Nicole and Sebastian,

We are writing to express serious concern over your upcoming auction of AI art at Christie’s.

Many of the artworks you plan to auction were created using AI models that are known to be trained on copyrighted work without a license. These models, and the companies behind them, exploit human artists, using their work without permission or payment to build commercial AI products that compete with them.

Your support of these models, and the people who use them, rewards and further incentivizes AI companies’ mass theft of human artists’ work.

We ask that, if you have any respect for human artists, you cancel the auction.

Yours sincerely,

The undersigned artists

I first sculpted the Black Rabbit back in 2008. A few years later, the collector who bought it paid me to make a diorama for him, so I made a scene where Fiver has a vision of Hazel, Bigwig, and the other rabbits of WD reuinted in Inlé as the Black Rabbit’s Owsla. Sculpey Firm. #art #sculpture

Diorama sculpture that includes the same anthropomorphic black rabbit presenting the smaller rabbit to five other medium sized rabbits who surround the large rabbit. They also have red eyes and black fur. A gray, dead, bare, scraggly tree grows on the rocks that all of the rabbits gather on.

Detail view of the large rabbit presenting the small rabbit to the medium rabbits.

Detail view of the scraggly tree, which is painted in grays, browns and blacks. It is worn and pale, like a tree long dead and smoothed by the elements and time.

Day five of #30Days30Lines, as a grieving mother gives the Pine Hills Police Department the respect it deserves

Phil winced when he heard the voice on the other end. Despite the noticeable slurring, the affected high class tone was unmistakeable. Grace Crane was making her daily call, a little earlier than expected.

"Have you found my baby?" Grace's voice was harsh and thick. She'd been crying, was probably still crying.

"You know we haven't, Miz Crane," Phil said. "We've got our best people on it, and we're following up on multiple leads."

"Your 'best people' aren't worth a fart in a hurricane."
